Help Shape the Developer Experience Behind a Leading Technology Platform

Are you a seasoned technical writer who knows how to turn complex APIs, SDKs, and platform capabilities into documentation developers actually want to use?

We are seeking a Senior Technical Writer for a high-impact, fully remote contract opportunity supporting a leading technology company. In this role, you will accelerate the delivery of clear, accurate, publication-ready developer documentation while helping reduce documentation backlog and improve the overall developer experience.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of technical writing, APIs, engineering, and developer experience. You'll own defined documentation projects from initial design and drafting through technical review and publication, working within established information architecture, tooling, and documentation standards.

If you're comfortable reading code, testing APIs, working in GitHub and Markdown, and partnering directly with Engineering and Product teams, this could be an excellent opportunity to make an immediate and visible impact.

What You'll Do

  • Deliver accurate, publication-ready developer documentation on an accelerated timeline, helping reduce backlog and improve the developer experience.
  • Create clear and highly usable API and SDK documentation that helps developers integrate quickly and successfully.
  • Own defined documentation projects from content design and drafting through review and publication.
  • Develop and validate real-world request and response examples grounded in actual system behavior.
  • Partner closely with Engineering and Product teams to validate APIs and maintain strong code-to-documentation alignment.
  • Work within a docs-as-code environment using GitHub and Markdown, integrating documentation updates with engineering workflows and release velocity.
  • Apply established style guides, information architecture, and technical standards to solve documentation challenges.
  • Read code, test APIs, and verify technical accuracy.
  • Identify documentation gaps and recommend practical, streamlined improvements that align with existing standards.
  • Use AI and automation tools, where already established, to improve the speed and accuracy of content delivery.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Design to align documentation priorities with broader platform initiatives.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of technical writing experience for developer audiences, with significant hands-on experience documenting APIs and SDKs.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, and technical integration workflows.
  • Experience with OpenAPI and/or Swagger in API-first environments.
  • Proficiency with docs-as-code tools and workflows, including GitHub, Markdown, Jira, and Postman.
  • Ability to read code, test APIs, and validate code-to-documentation alignment.
  • Proven success improving documentation clarity, structure, accuracy, and usability.
  • Strong understanding of developer experience (DevEx/DX) and information architecture.
  • Ability to work independently, move quickly, and deliver high-quality documentation within an accelerated three-month engagement.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, product managers, designers, and other technical stakeholders.

Bonus Points for Experience With

  • AI or automation tools used to scale or accelerate technical documentation workflows.
  • Fintech, banking, payments, or financial technology integrations.
  • SDK documentation across web and/or mobile platforms.
  • Developer onboarding journeys and sandbox environments.
  • Engineering, product management, or developer relations.
  • Modern documentation platforms such as Mintlify.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

ย

This isn't simply a role focused on editing existing content. You'll have the opportunity to work directly with sophisticated APIs and SDKs, validate technical behavior, collaborate closely with Engineering and Product, and create documentation that directly influences how developers experience and integrate with a leading technology platform.

If you're a senior technical writer who can quickly understand complex systems, translate technical details into intuitive developer experiences, and deliver polished documentation at engineering speed, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today to bring clarity to complex technology and help developers integrate faster and more successfully.
