This role combines client engagement, portfolio financial oversight, regulatory awareness, and people leadership to support SEEL’s continued national growth.

This role also provides oversight across the full program lifecycle, including customer acquisition, intake, assessment, installation, quality assurance, savings validation, contractor payment, regulatory reporting, and continuous improvement

The Senior Director serves as a trusted advisor to utility and public-sector clients while guiding internal teams to deliver high-performing programs aligned with SEEL’s mission and long-term strategy.

The Senior Director is responsible for translating portfolio strategy into measurable operational outcomes, including verified savings, customer satisfaction, contractor performance, compliance, budget performance, and forecast-to-actual results.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide executive oversight for multiple residential, commercial, and/or industrial energy efficiency program portfolios
  •  Direct portfolio execution across the full program lifecycle, including enrollment, intake, assessment, work order management, installation, QA/QC, savings validation, invoicing, payment, and closeout
  • Lead senior program managers and directors to ensure contractual, financial, and performance objectives are achieved or exceeded
  • Lead turnaround and stabilization efforts for underperforming programs by identifying production gaps, backlog issues, contractor bottlenecks, customer escalations, payment delays, and forecast-to-actual variances.
  • Maintain and grow senior-level client relationships with utilities, municipalities, and regulatory stakeholders
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level program updates, performance narratives, corrective action summaries, and strategic recommendations for internal leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee revenue, margin, incentive spend, labor utilization, contractor payments, accruals, budget-to-actual performance, and profitability improvement initiatives in collaboration with finance.
  • Identify and mitigate portfolio risks related to production shortfalls, regulatory noncompliance, contractor capacity, data integrity, customer experience, budget variance, safety, quality failures, and delayed savings recognition.
  • Contribute to business development efforts, including proposal strategy, pricing, and solution design while supporting program and portfolio design
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing leaders to support organizational growth and succession planning
  • Oversee contractor and trade ally performance at scale, including contractor capacity, onboarding, production, safety, quality results, failed inspections, customer complaints, invoice aging, and corrective action plans.
  • Use dashboards, CRM systems, work order platforms, Power BI, and operational reports to manage production, savings forecasts, budget burn, incentive spend, quality results, customer experience, and contractor performance.
  • Lead cross-functional governance across Operations, Finance, Data, Engineering, Quality, Marketing, Legal/Compliance, Account Management, and Field Operations to resolve portfolio-level risks and improve program execution

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master's degree preferred in Engineering, Public Policy, or related field
  • Certified Energy Manager preferred, or other national certification
  • 10+ years of experience in energy efficiency, utility programs, consulting, or related sectors
  • Experience leading utility-funded energy efficiency portfolios, including residential, multifamily, income-qualified, commercial, public-sector, or community-based program models.
  • Experience with weatherization, health and safety, HVAC, insulation, home performance, electrification, demand-side management, or decarbonization programs.
  • Demonstrated success managing large, multi-program portfolios and senior client relationships
  • Strong financial, strategic planning, and operational leadership capabilities
