Job description

MARS Solutions Group is looking for an experienced HVAC Controls Systems Technician Team Lead located in Knoxville, TN. Our client is a Building Automation industry Leader looking for high-quality talent to make a difference. Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Controls Systems Technician Team Lead to oversee daily field operations, support technician development, and ensure high-quality service delivery for commercial HVAC and building automation systems. This role is responsible for leading field technicians, coordinating service activities, maintaining customer satisfaction, and driving operational efficiency and safety compliance.

Responsibilities:

Lead and support a team of HVAC controls/service technicians in daily operations and field activities

Coordinate technician scheduling, route planning, and workforce allocation

Monitor operational performance, productivity, and customer satisfaction metrics

Support service delivery, troubleshooting, and execution of HVAC controls and building automation projects

Collaborate with internal teams to support service, maintenance, and installation opportunities

Ensure compliance with safety standards, operational procedures, and contractual requirements

Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and employee development activities

Assist with staffing, recruiting, onboarding, and retention efforts

Review operational processes and recommend improvements for efficiency and profitability

Maintain strong customer relationships and resolve escalated service concerns when needed

Required Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial HVAC service or building automation operations

Minimum 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience managing field technicians or service teams

Strong understanding of HVAC controls systems, building automation systems (BAS), and service operations

Experience with scheduling, workforce planning, and customer account management

Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field, or equivalent industry experience

Experience with building automation platforms and controls systems

Advanced operational leadership experience within HVAC or facilities services

Continuous improvement or process optimization experience (Lean/Six Sigma preferred)
