Assistant Teacher / Bus Driver - Head Start Preschool

Union County Community Action, Inc. (UCCA) is seeking a caring, dependable professional to support our Head Start preschool classrooms while also assisting with the safe transportation of children to and from school. This position offers the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with children and families while enjoying excellent benefits, professional growth opportunities, and a stable Monday-Friday schedule.
Starting Rate: Up to $18.50 per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:45am-2:45pm (40 hours/week)

What You'll Do
  • Assist teachers with classroom activities and lesson plans
  • Support children's social, emotional, and cognitive development
  • Maintain classroom documentation and records
  • Supervise children in classroom and outdoor settings
  • Assist with transportation by driving or monitoring buses
  • Build positive relationships with children and families

Qualifications
  • Assistant Teacher/ Bus Driver I: High School Diploma/ GED & Child Development Associate (CDA). Six months to one year of related experience preferred
  • Assistant Teacher/ Bus Driver II: Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Development or related field preferred. Six months to one year of related experience preferred
  • EDU 119 required
  • CDL required or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
  • CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and TB test, and must submit to random drug screenings.
  • Valid driver's license required
Physical Requirements
Must be able to actively supervise young children in classroom and outdoor environments, assist children on and off the bus, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
