Job description

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Ranch Hand is responsible for completing daily operations at Agri Beefโ€™s ranch in Loomis, WA, including monitoring and moving cattle. Their work enables day-to-day operation of the ranch. This position reports to the Ranch Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor animal health
  • Conduct equipment inspections
  • Move cattle on horseback, roping and doctoring cattle as necessary
  • Construct and maintain fence
  • Operate and maintain equipment to feed cattle
  • Operate and maintain haying equipment
  • Operate and maintain irrigation equipment, including pivots and wheel lines
  • Calve out cows and heifers
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Maintain a positive attendance record by demonstrating consistent and punctual attendance on a regular basis
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong horse-riding ability/experience
  • Keen ability to identify distressed cattle
  • Knowledgeable in herding cattle
  • Strong time management skills
  • Must be able to work extended seasonal hours as needed
  • Ability to repair ranch equipment, vehicles, and water systems
  • Ability to perform basic welding and to use a cutting torch
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather and conditions
  • Must possess a valid driverโ€™s license; CDL preferred but not required
  • Work is of physical nature, generally requires employees to lift up to 100 pounds and walk extended distances.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of ranch working experience preferred
  • Experience working with AI
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

WAGE RANGE: $18-22/hour depending on experience

BENEFITS: Competitive benefit package offered for regular (non-temporary/seasonal) employees (and qualified dependents) working 30+ hours per week includes medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, 401k, PTO accrual up to 15 days per year, six (6) paid holidays annually, and three (3) floating holidays.
