The Caturus platform founded by Kimmeridge - an alternative asset manager focused on the energy sector - supports Kimmeridge's overarching goal of providing low-cost energy on demand with the lowest carbon footprint.
Kimmeridge's vision in creating Caturus is to build the only independent, fully integrated natural gas and LNG export platform in the U.S. through a combination of its upstream operations and via Commonwealth LNG, a 9.5 million tonnes per annum liquefied natural gas export terminal in southwestern Louisiana on the U.S. Gulf Coast. The combined entities are committed to delivering responsibly sourced, low-emission fuel to domestic and international markets.
Caturus is a Houston-based, private exploration and production company seeking to materially grow production through development of deep, high pressure, dry gas windows of the Eagle Ford and Austin Chalk, as well as Haynesville formations located in Texas and Louisiana while maintaining a relentless focus on safety.
Commonwealth LNG was founded by industry veterans who decided to re-engineer the LNG construction model. Using proven best practices, Commonwealth is committed to building a world-class LNG export facility while focusing on safety, managing risk and achieving best-in-class environmental standards.
Job Description
Position Summary:
The Natural Gas Trader will execute natural gas sales and purchases within the delegated authority. The successful candidate will develop trading strategies, processes and procedures to increase the value of Caturus equity and third-party production as well as developing trading strategies around Caturus's Commonwealth LNG plant. The Natural Gas Trader will be responsible for managing activities across interstate and intrastate pipelines while ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and operational requirements.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Develop short- and long-term trading strategies, including technical or fundamental supporting analysis.
  • Build new counterparty relationships while advancing existing relationships through honest, straightforward dealings.
  • Execute monthly bid week transactions, focusing on value protection, market diversification, and flow assurance.
  • Coordinate with operations, accounting, and production teams to ensure accurate gas movement and reporting.
  • Maintain compliance with pipeline tariffs, contracts, FERC regulations, and company policies.
  • Identify and resolve scheduling discrepancies, volume variances, and transportation constraints.
  • Communicate regularly with pipeline representatives, producers, suppliers, and markets.
  • Support month-end close activities, invoicing validation, and reporting requirements.
  • Contribute toward ETRM selection and implementation process.
  • Assist in developing process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education, Certificates, and Licenses:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, or a related discipline.

Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in the natural gas markets, 2 years trading experience preferred.
  • Experience working with multiple electronic bulletin boards (EBBs) and ETRM systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong communication, customer-facing experience, and understanding of upstream/downstream pipeline operations.
  • Consistently able to meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent data management and organization capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ETRM and various EBBs.
  • Ability to provide evening and weekend support as needed.
  • Strong time management skills.
