Description
SUMMARY
The Program Director of Emergency Medical Services will report to the Dean of Allied Health & Career Programs and shall be responsible for assure achievement of the program's goals and outcomes, and is responsible for all aspects of the program, including the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development and general effectiveness of the program including the EMS, EMT, and EMR programs. The Program Director must provide supervision, administration, and coordination of the instructional staff in the academic and clinical phases of the educational program. The director will be responsible for the educational welfare of students and the professional needs of staff in the department. Working cooperatively with faculty and staff, operating within established duties and responsibilities, the Program Director has the administrative oversight and authority to manage decisions on matters related to Emergency Medical Services and provides leadership for faculty and staff in offering quality educational services for college students, and supervise and evaluate the performances of assigned personnel.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Provide leadership and management for the EMS, EMT, and EMR Programs.
• Develop and maintain relationships and correspondence with ICCB, HLC and appropriate accrediting agency.
• Develop and maintain relationships with the Illinois Department of Public Health and EMS system.
• Manage program accreditation
• Administration, organization, and supervision of the program,

• Continuous quality review and improvement of the educational program;
• Academic oversight, including curriculum planning and development; and
• Orientation/training and supervision of clinical and capstone field internship preceptors.

• Aligns program policies and procedures with college and outside regulatory agencies.
• Collaborate with leaders in the private and public sectors and educational agencies to determine needs for new courses and programs.
• Coordinate with hospitals and other healthcare agencies for clinical and employment placements for students.
• Ensure program accountability efforts.
• Collaborate with faculty in curriculum development, revisions, outcomes assessment, program review and retention activities to support student success.
• Effectively plan and manage the budget in coordination with program faculty.
• Collaborate with faculty to develop and staff the academic schedule.
• Address student issues and concerns.
• Manage the tenure process and faculty evaluations per contractual guidelines.
• Participate in district, state, and community committees and outreach activities.
• Lead annual advisory board meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in health-related profession, EMS, or education from an accredited institution of higher education;

• Documented education or experience in instructional methodology;
• 2 years' experience in the delivery of prehospital emergency care
• Knowledge about the current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice, National EMS Standards, and evidenced-informed clinical practice.
• Current Illinois Paramedic license
• Current Illinois Lead Instructor license
• 1-2 years documented teaching experience in EMS

• 3-5 years of experience in emergency services
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
• Must successfully pass a criminal background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's degree in health-related profession, EMS, or education from an accredited institution of higher education
• Previous college-level teaching experience
• Previous grant writing, implementation experience
• Familiarity with Ellucian and D2L Brightspace

STATUS/BENEFITS
This is a full-time Administrator position for 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. Board approval is required. The salary is $75,000 plus the following employee benefits: $15.200 Annual Flexible Health Benefit: • 15 Vacation, 12 Medical and 3 Personal Days Earned within First Year of Employment • 16 Holidays, 5 Winter break days, 4-Day Summer Workweek.
