ROLE PURPOSE:
The Process Control Engineer, as part of the Project Engineering department at the Tate and Lyle Okmulgee facility, will interface with a diverse team of personnel such as manufacturing plant operations and technical/engineering (Safety, Instrumentation, manufacturing process experts, applications engineers, etc.). This position will help install, maintain, support, and improve site process controls assets and systems. They will also serve as a key resource to support and lead plant optimization efforts regarding capacity, cost, quality, safety, and environmental improvements utilizing process controls techniques.

  • Suggesting improvements and being active in the general improvement of all systems and methods of work to ensure EHSQ supports activities and services are carried out in a safe, environmentally responsible, reliable, and cost-effective manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Confers with operators, supervisors and engineers to elicit known requirements of the business and suggests previously unconsidered improvements for evaluation.
  • Meets with engineering team to define and implement process control and instrumentation projects
  • Provide technical and operational expertise for the day-to-day support of the process control systems and infrastructure
  • Interface with vendors and area personnel to assist in purchasing and deployment of solutions.
  • Interface with outside consultants, engineering, company process control specialists, and area personnel to coordinate development and deployment of custom solutions.
  • Troubleshoot control systems hardware and software failures for Delta V and Microsoft systems
  • Participate in projects to replace servers, develop new networks, and improve control system sustainability
  • Comply with all Tate and Lyle standards, such as Process Control Practices, documentation, Management of Change, and design review procedures.
  • Ability to respond, via telephone mainly and occasionally in person, to off-hour callouts and requests for support.
  • Assist E&I technicians to resolve issues related to automation and control systems.
  • Technically support operations and capital projects in the operation, modification and maintenance of all HMI, control system, control system components and sub-systems.
  • All duties to be performed in accordance with Tate and Lyle's environmental, safety and health guidelines for a PSM facility.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Chemical) or equivalent technical discipline is required.
  • 0 - 3 years of working knowledge of DCS and PLC based process control systems.
  • Applicant must be a self-starter with excellent troubleshooting skills required to be on call to provide plant support during off hours and weekends.
  • Demonstrating high levels of integrity, thoroughness, creativity, flexibility, initiative, and productive, collaborative teamwork.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to independently direct & prioritize one's own work.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute controls projects effectively.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously under various deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data, draw conclusions and then develop and execute problem solutions.
  • Experience with Delta V, Allen Bradley and PI systems is desirable.

Tate & Lyle complies with all local/state regulations requiring salary range transparency.
When determining final compensation, we take into consideration: skillset, job scope, knowledge, prior experience, cost of living, market data, budget availability, and other factors as permitted by law.
The salary range for this position is: $71,000 - $104,000.
