Summary:

We are seeking an EPC Support Design Drafter to support the engineering, design, fabrication, and delivery of packaged pump station projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong design/drafting experience and a technical background in mechanical systems, pumping systems, piping, fabrication, or industrial equipment manufacturing. This position will work closely with the EPC Engineer and coordinate with project management, design/drafting, production, quality control, sales, and field personnel. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, technically capable, and comfortable supporting custom pump station projects from design through fabrication, testing, delivery, and installation support.

Responsibilities of the EPC Designer/Engineer include but are not limited to:

  • Support engineering, design, manufacturing, and construction coordination for packaged pump station projects.
  • Review drawings, layouts, pump selections, piping arrangements, bills of material, specifications, submittals, vendor data, and fabrication documents.
  • Create and update 3D models, assemblies, fabrication drawings, bills of material, and project documentation.
  • Track project action items, drawing revisions, technical questions, submittal comments, and open issues.
  •  Assist production by answering shop questions, verifying component fit-up, and helping ensure work matches approved drawings and specifications.
  • Maintain organized project records, including drawings, submittals, schedules, quality records, and status reports.
  • Communicate risks, delays, material issues, design conflicts, or coordination concerns to the EPC Engineer or project leadership.

Qualifications of the EPC Designer/Engineer include but are not limited to:

  • Experience in design, drafting, manufacturing, or project coordination preferred; degree not required.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, piping layouts, specifications, bills of material, and project documents.
  • Experience with packaged pump stations, water/wastewater systems, mechanical systems, utilities, industrial manufacturing, or engineered-to-order equipment preferred.
  • Basic understanding of pumps, valves, piping, hydraulics, controls, instrumentation, skids, enclosures, and fabrication processes.
  • Very proficient in 3D modeling software, preferably Autodesk Inventor.
  • Ability to create and manage assemblies, detailed drawings, bills of material, and related design documentation.
  • Strong organization, follow-up, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  •  Ability to work with engineering, procurement, production, quality, construction, vendors, customers, and operations teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with EPC project delivery, procurement processes, shop drawings, and submittals.
  • Experience with design automation, configuration tools, rules-based modeling, scripting, or coding.
  • Practical understanding of fabrication, assembly, construction sequencing, jobsite constraints, and vendor coordination.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with multiple custom projects in progress.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, continuous improvement, and project accountability.

What We're Looking For

    • Practical, solutions-oriented mindset
    • Ability to balance engineering theory with real-world constraints
    • Strong attention to detail without losing sight of project deadlines
    • Good communication across engineering, shop, and customers

    Additional Information:

    • Working Conditions: Office environment
    • Training/Certifications: N/A
    • Shift Time/Overtime: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. + overtime as needed
    • Travel: N/A
    • Education: A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field is preferred. Relevant mechanical design and manufacturing experience may be considered in place of a degree.

This Position Is a Good Fit If You…

    • Enjoy figuring out how mechanical systems actually work.
    • Can look beyond the drawing and understand how equipment will be fabricated and assembled.
    • Are comfortable walking onto the shop floor to verify a dimension or solve a problem.
    • Ask questions when equipment or project requirements do not make sense.
    • Can identify piping, equipment, and clearance conflicts before manufacturing finds them.
    • Enjoy custom projects where every system is a little different.

This position is not intended for someone looking solely for a desk-based engineering role or basic CAD drafting work. Our Engineer / Designers are expected to understand the systems they design, make engineering and design decisions, and work directly with the people building the equipment.
