Job description

ACCOUNTING ANALYST
The Accounting Analyst provides financial and project accounting support for Federal Government and Department of Defense (DoD) contracts and corporate operations. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing account reconciliations, supporting financial reporting, and assisting with project cost monitoring. With approximately 10 years of accounting experience, the analyst plays a key role in ensuring financial accuracy and compliance with government contracting regulations and applicable accounting standards. The position works extensively within Deltek Costpoint to manage project accounting, track labor and expense transactions, maintain project structures, and support billing and reporting activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Monitor project costs, budgets, and funding levels to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Generate and analyze financial reports from Costpoint to support program management and leadership decision- making.
  • Support project setup and maintenance within the Costpoint system, including project structures, billing parameters, and cost tracking.
  • Review labor postings and expense transactions to ensure proper project charging and cost allocation.
  • Assist with customer billing preparation and revenue recognition processes.
  • Support compliance with government contract accounting requirements and internal financial controls.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, including the preparation of financial reports and documentation.
  • Collaborate with program managers to monitor financial performance and identify potential cost or funding issues.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Approximately 10 years of accounting or financial analysis experience.
  • Experience supporting Federal Government and/or DoD contracts is required.
  • Demonstrated experience working with project-based accounting in government contracting environments.
  • Proficiency using Costpoint for project accounting, reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of government contract accounting principles, cost allowability, and financial reporting practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
