Our client is an established Commercial Mechanical and HVAC Contractor servicing customers throughout Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC. They specialize in installation, service, and maintenance projects and are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support ongoing growth and operational needs.
Position Summary
The Project Manager will oversee multiple commercial mechanical and HVAC projects while serving as a key liaison between customers, technicians, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders. This individual will be responsible for planning, coordination, scheduling, project execution, and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
The ideal candidate has a blend of hands-on mechanical/HVAC experience and project management expertise, allowing them to effectively lead field operations while maintaining strong customer relationships.
Travel & Work Environment:
- This role requires regular travel to active job sites throughout Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC.
- Project Managers are expected to visit job sites to oversee project progress, support field teams, meet with customers, and ensure successful project execution.
- Typically, the schedule consists of approximately 2 days per week in the field visiting job sites and 3 days per week working from the office in Lorton, VA.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
- A company gas card or vehicle allowance will be provided upon hire.
Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple ongoing commercial mechanical and HVAC projects simultaneously.
- Coordinate installation projects ranging from short-duration work orders to larger ongoing projects.
- Communicate regularly with customers, technicians, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Lead project planning meetings and provide project updates to stakeholders.
- Coordinate field technician schedules and project staffing needs.
- Work closely with Lead Technicians to ensure projects remain on schedule and within scope.
- Assist with project planning, inspections, and coordination with General Contractors.
- Order materials and track delivery schedules to support project timelines.
- Manage subcontractor activities and ensure work is completed according to project requirements.
- Partner with accounting and operations teams regarding project costs, invoicing, and customer updates.
- Monitor project progress and proactively address operational challenges.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of commercial mechanical or HVAC field experience.
- 5+ years of project management or project oversight experience.
- Experience coordinating technicians, subcontractors, and customers at a job/field site.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with scheduling, project planning, and material procurement.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the DMV region.
Preferred
- Mechanical construction experience.
- Experience coordinating inspections and working with General Contractors.
- Exposure to budgeting, invoicing, or project financial tracking.
