Job description

SMX is looking for a highly motivated VMware Systems Administrator with demonstrated experience to maintain the various systems. This position will provide onsite support at Patuxent River NAS in southern Maryland and requires a DoD Top Secret security clearance which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.

As the Systems Administrator, you will join a team of highly-driven, supportive, and skilled professionals engaged in supporting program management, technical, or business case analysis across the NAVAIR community.ย 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Experience developing and maintaining scripts using PowerShell, Python, Ansible, and other technologies.ย 
  • Deploy and maintain physical and virtual hardware infrastructure, to include virtual machines and containers.
  • Perform routine maintenance and configuration changes to various physical and virtual hosts.
  • Installation, configuration and troubleshooting of hardware and software issues on servers, workstations, and IT equipment.
  • Maintain system backups and disaster recovery plans.
  • Manage user accounts and permissions.
  • Deploy and maintain software applications.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Maintain documentation to include knowledge base, incident response actions, system configurations, and other information related to system administration.
  • Provide technical support to customers, ranging from resolving technical issues to providing guidance and best-practices.
  • Working knowledge of DoD IA practices, including STIGs, patching, backups, and ACAS scans.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Clearance Required: Top Secret
    • Secret required to startย 
  • 3+ years of systems administration experience including VMware/vSphere Enterprise experience
  • Experience providing deployment, configuration, and support for virtual machines and hosts
  • Networking experience
  • Experience with Windows and Linux server operating systems
