Apply Category: Scientific Below is a sample job description for the contract job opportunity at Abbott: OVERVIEW The Research Scientist leads and contributes to research and development initiatives, applying scientific expertise to design experiments, analyze data, solve technical challenges, and advance diagnostic assay products from concept through development. This role partners with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, support product development, and ensure high-quality scientific outcomes. Title: Research Scientist Location: San Diego, CA Duration: 6 months 100% onsite KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Lead and support research and development projects for diagnostic assay products. Design, execute, and analyze experiments to solve technical challenges. Interpret data and translate research findings into product development opportunities.

Serve as a technical expert and mentor junior team members. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and project updates. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve scientific and business goals.

Support process improvements and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards. QUALIFICATIONS PhD in a field related to essential duties; or Master's degree in a related field and 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of PhD; or Bachelor's degree in a related field and 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of PhD. Experience designing and conducting complex experiments.

Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and scientific communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
