Job description

What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: The Industrial Division Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and strategic direction of the Industrial Services Division. This role oversees operations, financial performance, business development, staffing, risk management, and execution of all projects within the Division. The Division Manager is ultimately accountable for ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably, on schedule, and in alignment with company standards and long-term objectives.

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Leadership & Management

  • Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the Division.

  • Establish and maintain accountability at all levels of the Division.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Operations Managers, Project Managers, Superintendents, and support staff into a cohesive operating unit.

  • Promote a culture centered on safety, professionalism, operational discipline, and teamwork.

  • Reinforce and uphold company policies, procedures, and leadership decisions across the Division.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Division and back-office functions (Accounting, HR, and IT) building strong working relationships across teams.

  • Ensure Division operations align with established standards, values, culture, and company objectives.

Operational Oversight

  • Maintain overall responsibility for project execution and operational performance within the Division.

  • Monitor project schedules, manpower planning, equipment utilization, subcontractor performance, and resource allocation.

  • Participate in project planning, staffing decisions, and problem-solving at the operational level.

  • Conduct regular project reviews and progress meetings with operational staff.

  • Ensure all projects are properly staffed with qualified personnel capable of successful execution.


Financial Management

  • Maintain full accountability for the Division's profitability and overall financial performance.

  • Review and monitor project budgets, cost reports, fee projections, and cost-to-complete forecasts.

  • Participate in monthly financial and operational reviews with executive leadership.

  • Partner with accounting and operational teams to identify financial risks and implement corrective actions early.

  • Champion company initiatives related to cost control, operational efficiency, and capital discipline.

Risk Management

  • Lead Division-level risk evaluation and strategic decision-making.

  • Participate in bid reviews, go/no-go discussions, and project strategy meetings.

  • Ensure operational risks are properly identified, communicated, and managed prior to and throughout project execution.

  • Own high-stakes operational decisions and staffing strategies that carry elevated risk profiles.


Business Development & Client Relations

  • Set and lead the Division's business development strategy in alignment with the company's overall growth objectives.

  • Partner with the Director of Business Development to qualify and pursue opportunities for the Division, owning the close on opportunities brought to the table.

  • Build and maintain a pipeline of work that sustains operational capacity, supports targeted staffing levels, and drives Division growth

  • Cultivate and maintain key client and partner relationships within the Division's market segments to support repeat work and negotiated opportunities.

  • Proactively identify and evaluate new market opportunities, project pursuits, and strategic partnerships that fit the company's capabilities and long-term direction.

  • Represent the company at client meetings, industry associations, conferences, lunch and learns, and community events.

  • Lead pursuit strategy and go/no-go decision-making for Division-level opportunities.

  • Oversee proposal development, including review of scope, win themes, competitive positioning, and pricing strategy.

  • Maintain and grow the Division's BD pipeline; provide regular updates to executive leadership on pursuit status and market conditions.

  • Coordinate with estimating, preconstruction, and operations teams to ensure pursuit strategies are executable and profitable.

  • Support contract negotiations and scope clarification with clients as needed.

  • Develop and leverage relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other industry partners to expand the company's presence and competitive advantage.


Safety & Compliance

  • Champion and enforce the Safety Management System across all Division operations.

  • Ensure all projects maintain full compliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable regulations.

  • Partner with the Safety Department to proactively address concerns and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.

  • Set and enforce safety expectations within the Division in alignment with the company's safety culture and standards.

  • Partner with the Safety department for coaching, training, audits, and program support without delegating accountability away from the line.

  • Own the Division's safety performance and outcomes, building the same ownership mindset throughout the operations team.

Ideal Background

Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science or related field from an accredited university is highly preferred.

Licensing: General Contractors License is highly preferred.

Experience: This position requires 15+ years of relevant industrial construction management experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work outdoors in hot or cold climates.

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.

  • Ability to perform duties while wearing personal protective equipment such as a fire-retardant jumpsuit, safety glasses, ear plugs and hard hat.
