Job description

Position Title: Line Design Engineer 3

Location = Forest Park, GA(Onsite)

3 Year contract


Experience Required:

  • 7-10 years of related experience
  • Accredited bachelor’s degree or Professional Engineer (PE) license

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Design & Construction of High-Voltage Transmission Lines (HVTL):
    • Apply engineering processes, design criteria, and software applications.
    • Develop design options and prepare construction specifications.
  2. Contractor Guidance & Quality Assurance:
    • Oversee approved contractors in developing design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packages for outsourced line design projects.
  3. Safety & Process Knowledge:
    • Prioritize safety to create a safe work environment.
    • Understand the HVTL planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenance processes.
  4. Internal Collaboration:
    • Work with various internal departments involved in HVTL design, construction, and maintenance.
  5. Technical Expertise:
    • Master transmission line design practices, software applications (e.g., PLSCADD), and standards (NESC and Southern Company).
  6. Support Construction & Maintenance Teams:
    • Provide support for both daily operations and emergency restoration of equipment.
  7. Quality Assurance:
    • Conduct quality assurance reviews for PLSCADD line models and construction packages.
    • Estimate materials for transmission projects and transmit construction packages with supporting specifications.

Required Skills & Expertise:

  • Strong engineering knowledge and problem-solving abilities
  • Discretion to make independent decisions within established procedures
  • Familiarity with Transmission Line Design (TLD) software
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
  • Ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering teams, and vendors
