Transmission Line Design Engineer I

Summary:
Responsible for performing engineering, project management and technical support for transmission line design projects.

A typical starting range for this position is $85,000 - $117,000 + annually. We offer market competitive base pay and adjust our offer accordingly based upon the value of the candidate's knowledge, skills and experience. Responsibilities: Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
โ€ข Performs engineering on transmission line design projects, to ensure safe, high-quality, cost-efficient, reliable designs.
โ€ข Provides technical support to other GRE engineers, the Permitting & Land Rights department, field technicians, operators, and others to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the GRE transmission system.
โ€ข Leads and participates on cross-functional teams responsible to develop and update internal GRE design standards and equipment specifications to ensure consistent, high-quality designs.
โ€ข May perform project management for Transmission Division projects, as assigned, to ensure all financial, functional and schedule requirements are met.
Qualifications:
โ€ข Bachelor of Science degree (or advanced) in civil engineering or electrical engineering required. Civil engineering degree strongly preferred.
โ€ข 0-4 years of experience in an engineering or science-related position within the utility or a related industry.
โ€ข 6 months of utility experience is strongly preferred.
โ€ข Some PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE modeling experience is strongly preferred.
โ€ข 2+ years of transmission line design engineering experience is preferred.
โ€ข Familiar with the NESC (National Electrical Safety Code)
โ€ข Ability to utilize and assess technologies related to the utility industry.
โ€ข Verbal and written communication skills.
โ€ข Ability to research, analyze, and make recommendations related to engineering decisions.
โ€ข Ability to work in a team environment.
โ€ข Project management skills.
โ€ข Demonstrated experience in utilizing problem solving skills to address primarily technical issues.
