Position Summary

Meritus Solutions Group is seeking professional Armed Protective Security Officers (PSOs) to support federal facilities in Waco, Temple, and surrounding areas of Central Texas.

Protective Security Officers are responsible for protecting federal facilities, personnel, visitors, and government property through access control, security monitoring, patrol operations, emergency response, and force protection activities.

This position requires professionalism, sound judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate in a highly regulated federal security environment.

Applicants must possess a current Texas Level III Commissioned Security Officer License. Candidates without an active Level III Commission Card will not be considered.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide armed security services at designated federal facilities

  • Control access to federal buildings and restricted areas

  • Monitor security systems and conduct security inspections

  • Protect personnel, visitors, equipment, and government property

  • Conduct patrols and perimeter security checks

  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and security incidents

  • Prepare accurate incident reports and daily activity logs

  • Maintain compliance with federal, contract, and company requirements

  • Communicate professionally with government personnel, visitors, and the public

  • Perform additional security-related duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen

  • Be at least 21 years of age

  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED

  • Have a minimum of:

    • Two (2) years of armed security experience, OR

    • Prior military experience with honorable discharge, OR

    • Prior law enforcement experience

  • Successfully pass:

    • Federal background investigation

    • Medical evaluation

    • Drug screening

  • Be able to obtain and maintain required government security credentials

  • Be able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently

  • Be capable of preparing clear and accurate written reports


Required Certifications

Applicants must possess:

  • Current Texas Level III Commissioned Security Officer License

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Current CPR / First Aid / AED Certification


Security Clearance Requirements

All applicants must successfully complete a federal background investigation and obtain all required government suitability determinations prior to assignment.

Meritus Solutions Group will assist qualified candidates with the federal clearance process.


Training Requirements

All newly hired officers must successfully complete required contract training before standing post.

Training includes:

  • One (1) week of in-person range and weapons qualification training

  • Two (2) days of x-ray and screening equipment training

  • Additional contract-specific training as required

All training is paid, and employees will receive training pay during the qualification process.

Meritus provides:

All armed officers assigned to this contract are represented by a union.

Work Schedule

Officers assigned to this contract generally do not work nights, weekends, or federal holidays.

Work is performed on-site at designated federal facilities.


Union Status

Officers assigned to this contract are represented by a collective bargaining agreement. Employment terms, wages, benefits, and working conditions may be governed by the applicable union contract.
