Job description

Job Purpose:

The purpose of the Technical Sales Associate is to manage bid lists, secure plans and specifications, generate take-offs and project estimates, provide technical sales support for both the Outside Sales team and contractors, and manage projects to ensure profit targets are achieved.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Obtain and review project plans and specifications to determine the specific products and services to be included in a binding estimate per established guidelines
• Obtain special quotations from manufacturers, as required, while maintaining competitive pricing levels and maximizing gross margins
• Coordinate prior approval requests with the engineering services department
• Populate job tracking systems with pertinent information, including basis of design information, quote values, etc.
• Prepare complete and accurate engineering submittals for products being ordered
• Answer application and technical questions, as well as general customer service inquiries, from mechanical contractors
• Prepare and generate orders to manufacturers for products associated with awarded projects
• Manage logistics to ensure product arrives at the job site as required
• Maintain proper margin levels and job accuracy to ensure projects are billed correctly
• Partner with the Outside Sales team and keep them informed regarding product availability, shipping schedules, and overall job status
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance
• Work cooperatively with others
• Comply with all company policies and procedures
• Maintain regular, punctual, and reliable attendance and availability

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent work experience

Travel Requirement:

• 5% travel to branches and other operating companies, requiring some overnight stays; travel to industry-related conferences and training may require extended stays
