Job description

General Overview
Telemetry & Communications Systems, Inc. (TCS) is seeking a Drafter to lead and contribute to the design, development, and implementation of our telemetry antenna measurement systems.
The successful candidate will work with a team of fellow RF engineers, software engineers, mechanical engineers and program management to design mechanical components and assemblies based on instruction from senior engineers. Research methods of manufacturing to help reduce costs and build time for mechanical components.
This position is to be filled onsite in Chatsworth, CA. No employer visa sponsorship is available.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate, as a minimum, should exhibit proven capabilities in the following:
  • Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks software.
  • Ensure that all designs comply with industry standards and specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to develop and modify designs.
  • Perform regular quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of designs.
  • Create design specifications, documentation, and material lists.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all design changes and revisions.
  • Communicate with vendors and suppliers to obtain necessary materials and components.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to production and manufacturing teams.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve design issues as they arise during the production process.
  • Assist with inspection to ensure incoming parts meet set drawing specifications.

Qualifications
  • Experience in drafting for mechanical projects (electrical is a plus).
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Time management skills to meet project deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and design standards.
  • Hard skills:
    • Computer Aided Design (CAD) proficiency (Preferably with Solidworks).
    • Manufacturing drawings proficiency.
    • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) knowledge.
    • Assembly modeling skills.
    • Organizational skills for proper documentation.
    • Inspection methods a plus.

  • Salary Range: $60,320-$72,800 annually (based on experience)
