Solid Surface Fabricator / Plastic Laminate Technician

Southern Pride Custom Cabinets is seeking to add long term candidate for senior level experienced Solid Surface Fabricator / Plastic Laminate Technician-

Mid-level will continue to acquire skills to our team in our cabinetry production facility in Madison, AL.


Responsibilities:

  • Work in a team environment where cross training is encouraged and desired
  • Complete assembly of solid surface worksurfaces
  • Read blueprints and drawings for each job to ensure tops are assembled correctly
  • Follow production plant reports to ensure that each job is completed to specifications
  • Use hand tools and power tools and machinery including hand routers, orbital sanders, files, vertical panel saw, table saw, chop saw, slider table saw, knives, calipers, etc., and/or finish spraying equipment and other tools used in woodworking and cabinetry making
  • Create jigs and holding devices
  • Work with manager and other team members to troubleshoot any problems that may arise
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Maintain inventory of adhesives used during the fabrication process
  • Assist with daily clean up, assembly, and delivery and other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must have 3 or more years of experience of plastic laminate and solid surface countertop fabrication
  • Willingness to meld prior knowledge with company standard procedures
  • Must have a strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Follow safety guidelines
  • Report to work on time each day and be dependable
  • Must be capable of:
    1. Properly laying up loose laminate onto substrates
    2. 3mm banding laminate countertop edges
    3. Flush routing laminate
    4. Providing tops with proper build up per shop drawings
    5. Performing solid surface seams/edge glue up
    6. Fabricating solid surface integral sink bowls
    7. Sanding solid surface with proper sequencing for flat uniform finish
  • Must have a relentless drive for greater efficiency and higher quality
  • Must enjoy working alongside others, maintain composure, and be a team player
  • Experience in woodworking and cabinet building is required
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test and have clean background record
  • Must be able to lift (above 50lbs), bend and work on your feet for extended periods of time

Full time position

Pay is commensurate with experience

Hours vary based on season/demand - typically Monday to Thursday, 6:00am to 4:30pm
