Job description

Job Summary

The Engineering Manager leads the team that builds CoreVestโ€™s lending technology โ€” both Salesforce solutions and custom full-stack applications across origination, underwriting, pricing, and servicing. This is a player-coach role: approximately 80% hands-on engineering leadership (architecture, design, code, and technical decisions) and 20% product (shaping what gets built and owning the technical roadmap alongside the Business Product Owner). The role manages a growing team and sets the engineering bar, and runs an AI-native delivery model built for hypergrowth in a regulated lending business.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Include the following but not limited to; other duties may be assigned.

Engineering Leadership & Architecture

  • Own system architecture and design across the Salesforce platform and custom-built solutions; make and defend build-vs-configure and integration trade-offs.
  • Set and enforce the engineering bar โ€” code quality, performance, security, testability โ€” at a level that holds up under Salesforce platform limits (governor limits, async and transaction boundaries, sharing and scale behavior, metadata and deployment discipline) and across custom services and integrations.
  • Stay hands-on: review designs and code, unblock the hardest technical problems, and ship alongside the team.
  • Own delivery execution โ€” estimates, technical commitments, release quality, and ongoing reduction of technical debt and resiliency risk.

Product Partnership

  • Translate prioritized business outcomes into a technical roadmap and architecture, and push back with informed trade-offs rather than simply taking orders.
  • Shape scope and sequencing so the roadmap is genuinely buildable and value lands fast.

Team Leadership & Talent Growth

  • Manage a team , consisting of employees and contractors: set expectations, run the delivery cadence, and hold quality and accountability across a fluid roster.
  • Mentor engineers, raise the bar, and turn a contractor-heavy team into a dependable, high-performing delivery engine.

AI-Native Delivery (the Hypergrowth Lever)

  • Drive an AI-first build model โ€” AI-assisted coding, code review, test generation, and documentation โ€” to deliver materially faster.
  • Continuously identify where AI changes how the team should work, and pivot tooling, workflow, and staffing accordingly.
  • Upskill the whole team (contractors included) on AI tooling so speed gains are team-wide, not individual.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • 10+ years building enterprise software; 4+ years leading engineering teams, including distributed and contractor teams.
  • Salesforce platform expertise โ€” not just configuration, but internals: Apex at scale, governor limits, async patterns (Batch/Queueable/Platform Events), the sharing and security model, integration patterns, and deployment/DevOps discipline.
  • Strong custom full-stack engineering โ€” able to architect and lead non-Salesforce services, APIs, and integrations.
  • Deep financial-services / lending domain knowledge; understands the loan lifecycle and regulated-environment constraints.
  • Proven system architecture and design leadership across multiple solution types.
  • Demonstrated talent management and growth in a fast-moving environment.
  • Hands-on use of AI to accelerate software delivery, with a track record of changing how a team works to capture that speed.
  • Hypergrowth mindset: thrives in ambiguity and speed while maintaining quality and governance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Loan Origination Systems (LOS), pricing engines, or underwriting engines; lending products such as DSCR, bridge, fix-and-flip, and build-for-rent.
  • Experience modernizing legacy lending platforms or building greenfield fintech systems.
  • Strong understanding of credit risk, pricing models, and capital markets implications.
  • Experience scaling delivery in regulated, high-growth environments.

What Success Looks Like

  • Salesforce and custom solutions ship faster and cleaner, with architecture that holds up at scale and under platform limits.
  • A mostly-contractor team operates like a high-performing product team โ€” predictable, accountable, and quality-focused.
  • AI is embedded in how the team builds, with measurable delivery-speed gains.
  • The Business Product Owner has a true technical partner: trade-offs are honest, the roadmap is buildable, and value lands.

A reasonable estimate of the total compensation range for this role is $170,000.00 to $200000.00. The actual salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, geographic location, training, licensure and certification, and other factors. CoreVest also offers a competitive benefit package including discretionary corporate bonus program, multiple health plans, STD and LTD options, company sponsored life insurance, fitness reimbursement, paid parental leave, time to volunteer, Paid Time off, ESPP, and 401K matching.
