Incorporating more than 30 years of designing and manufacturing coating and drying equipment into every new project, Taiyo Circuit Automation utilizes proven concepts while also embracing the ever-changing improvements from technology and field experience. We are constantly working to improve our products with refinements developed and tested.

Taiyo Circuit Automations laser like focus on the application and drying of liquid photoimageable soldermask (LPISM) has forged us into the leadership position of supplying machines throughout the world. Since the introduction of our first LPISM coater, the DP10 in 1990, we have been continuously developing and refining the process. Most of our customers only have one LPISM coating machine, so uptime reliability is of paramount concern.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Field Service Technician is responsible for providing technical services on Taiyo Circuit Automations mechanical and electromechanical products and systems. Additionally, this position provides expert technical advice on customers production and engineering issues in the application of solder mask and other Taiyo products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Conduct technical audits and evaluations at customer sites.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and PLC-based control systems.
  • Implement process control solutions to improve performance and support new projects.
  • Install, configure, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Prepare technical documentation including audit reports, trial evaluations, and customer reports.
  • Create quotations, process purchase orders, and manage parts orders.
  • Consult with customer engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Prepare test matrices and define scope of work prior to travel.
  • Maintain compliance with safety regulations (OSHA, applicable international standards).
  • Maintain technical knowledge through ongoing training and professional development.
  • Support team objectives and special projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in equipment service, preferably within PCB or related electronics industries.
  • Experience with PLC systems (OMRON, Koyo, Allen Bradley preferred).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and process control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics.
  • Experience with installation and calibration of process control instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Professional communication skills with customers.
  • Ability to remain calm and think clearly in high-pressure situations.
  • Valid drivers license required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to work in plant operating areas including exposure to noise, vibrations, heat and cold.
  • Must be able to wear any required protective equipment, as required by safety procedures and regulations.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20-50 pounds.
  • Job requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time with moderate bending, stooping, and kneeling.
  • The ability to work at a computer and computer monitor and use repetitive motion for long periods of time.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Technology, Industrial Technology, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience in HVAC, automotive repair, or similar mechanical field.
  • Experience assembling, installing, or servicing industrial equipment or machinery.
  • Familiarity with pneumatic systems, motors, mechanical drive components, and control panels.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Occasional weekend or overtime work.
  • Frequent travel, up to 50% of time.
