OverviewSenior Project Manager - Construction, is a vital part of the US Engineering team and holds responsibility for overseeing the profitability and success of the project.  The Senior Project Manager gets engaged from the preparation and review of estimates, through the construction phase, and takes charge of all activities from the start to on-time and on-budget completion.  Additionally, business development expectations include strengthening existing relationships and fostering new ones.

Responsibilities

  • Proficient at plan/spec estimating as well as conceptual estimating in a design/build/assist scenario.
  • Understands the total life cycle of a building and is able to guide customers to the best solution that aligns with their mission.
  • Partners with field leadership to ensure projects are installed on schedule while maintaining the required design criteria.
  • Work with customer base to ensure conceptual designs and budgets meet the customers’ needs and expectations.
  • Proficient at preconstruction activities such as formulating a project execution plan, detailed estimate reviews, commodity and equipment procurement, subcontractor selection, issuing subcontracts, submittals, and developing the project schedule.
  • Establish project objectives, procedures, and performance standards within scope of company policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Forecasts project profitability monthly, identifies trends, and makes adjustments to the project execution plan as necessary.
  • Manages subcontractor proposal requests, scope reviews and the issuing of subcontracts.
  • Responsible for establishing and monitoring schedule of field and subcontractor progress.
  • Assists in the coordination of safety programs and oversees job site safety reviews.
  • Coordinates all job correspondence.
  • Identifies opportunities for future projects and networks internally and externally to pursue such opportunities, in collaboration with the Vice President of Operations – Service and Special Projects, and others.
  • Responsible for understanding the offerings of US Engineering’s sister companies and promoting their services when appropriate. 
  • Responsible for supporting the professional development of other team members through education, mentoring, and continuous feedback. 
  • Conducts quarterly performance assessments of support staff and assists with field leadership feedback.
  • Thoroughly understands the strategic direction of US Engineering and aligns all project execution plans with the overall strategy.
  • WBS and work pack management (Facilitate VC/MX)
  • Build, maintain and track project Schedule (CPM Schedules)
  • Host weekly internal coordination meetings.
  • Responsible for creating and tracking closeout process including all equipment startups QA/QC, Commissioning, and warranty.

Job Scope: 
The Senior Project Manager – should possess the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects, ranging from $500.00 up to approximately $20,000,000 in value. 
Management Responsibility
 Acts as a project manager – management of a project team, on which the individuals comprising the team may vary by project.

RequirementsEducation & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
  • Equivalent combination of field and relevant project leadership experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience is required.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical construction industry practices, processes, and standards – including systems design, installation, and servicing.
  • Must possess a strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, as well as a basic knowledge of plumbing systems and industrial processes.
  • Ability to maximize performance of project team through innovative and effective management techniques.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, such as diplomacy, persuasion, etc. are essential to develop and foster effective professional relationships.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Basic level of financial acumen necessary to manage project budget / performance.
  • Knowledge of the following computer programs:  MS Word, Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict-management skills.
  • Ability to successfully drive project through completion.

Physical and/or travel demands:  
  • Routine daily driving to project sites required.
  • Infrequent overnight travel may be required, based on project assignments. 
  • Physical demands include walking on uneven surfaces, climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, and lifting.  Position includes sitting and standing, use of telephone, keyboard, and computer monitor. 

Benefits and Compensation:

  • The range for this position has been established at $115,360 to $163,624 and is US Engineering Innovations’s good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of the posting. The compensation offered to the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
  • Your total compensation will go beyond the number on your paycheck. Team members are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance as well as paid time off. An industry-leading benefits package including health, dental, and vision plans, matching retirement contributions, and matching 529 contributions all add to your bottom line.
