Essential Duties and Responsibilities

At Centrus Energy's Oak Ridge Technology & Manufacturing Center, you'll help design and integrate nextgeneration nuclear systems-work that directly contributes to national energy security and the future of clean power. 

  • Contribute to thermalfluid and heattransfer modeling for nuclear applications, translating analysis into practical design decisions;
  • Support structural and materials evaluations using modern simulation tools; help link results to reliability and safety objectives;
  • Draft clear technical documentation: design specs, test plans, and verification procedures;
  • Collaborate with senior engineers across mechanical, nuclear, and systems disciplines to integrate models with real equipment; and
  • Participate in safety reviews, risk assessments, and system verification activities; learn our disciplined review culture.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering or a related field (Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear, or Systems Engineering). (required)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Academic or project experience in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, or structural analysis.
  • Experience with flow calculations.
  • Experience with P&IDs.
  • Familiarity with modeling tools such as ANSYS, SolidWorks, MATLAB, etc. 
  • Due to federal contract security requirements, this position requires U.S. Citizenship. (required)
  • Due to federal contract security requirements, candidates must be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
