Contract Quantity Surveyors are professionals who manage all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from initial calculations to final figures. Their primary role is to ensure that construction projects are completed within budget while meeting quality and legal standards. They are involved in preparing tender documents, cost estimates, negotiating contracts, and managing payments throughout the project lifecycle. Contract Quantity Surveyors often work closely with clients, contractors, architects, and engineers to deliver successful outcomes.

To thrive as a Contract Quantity Surveyor, you need a solid understanding of construction economics, contract law, and cost management, typically supported by a degree in quantity surveying or a related field and relevant professional accreditation (such as RICS or CIOB). Familiarity with cost estimation software (like CostX or Candy), procurement systems, and contract management tools is often required.
