Thalle Construction Co., Inc. (“Thalle”) is currently seeking a Construction Surveyor. The Surveyor will report to the Project Superintendent and work closely with and support the operations team and interact with a variety of staff at all levels, while remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

Job Title:  Construction Surveyor

Salary: Competitive compensation package based on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Thalle is currently seeking an experienced Surveyor to perform a variety of tasks associated with survey and layout. The Surveyor will be responsible for utilizing total station and GPS equipment and computer software in project assignments. In addition, this position will be responsible for understanding the project documents to support the construction staking/layout, field data collection and topographical surveys for a new lock structure and surrounding site.

  • Assists with survey computations and data collection including construction layout calculations, grade sheet computation, topographical/volume analysis, and project data conversion/transformation.
  • Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and as-built surveys.
  • Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain.
  • Oversee survey aspects of civil engineering projects and/or directing preparation of all types of survey plans.
  • Conducting plan research and review.
  • Perform fieldwork associated with land surveying.
  • Conduct business with 100% integrity and professionalism.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with heavy civil projects and structures.
  • Experience must show current proficiency operating a robotic tool station, GPS, and level.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of geological description principles and methods.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, legal codes, and government regulation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, focused, self-motivated, possess good work ethic and be a team player.
  • Ability to travel will be required.
  • Valid Driver’s License required, and candidate must pass be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Report background check.

 Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to work outdoors on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
