Job description

Position Overview

Palmetto Plastics is seeking a hands-on Quality Control Manager to oversee product quality directly on the manufacturing floor. This is not a desk-based role. The ideal candidate will be actively involved in inspecting, testing, and verifying product quality throughout production.

This role is critical to maintaining product integrity, reducing waste, and ensuring consistent output across all operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform hands-on inspection and testing of materials and finished products

  • Use measurement tools (calipers, gauges, etc.) to verify product specifications

  • Conduct random and scheduled quality checks throughout production

  • Monitor:

    • Extrusion / thermoforming output

    • Glue room processes

    • Raw material quality

    • Finished goods staging

  • Identify defects, root causes, and work with production to implement corrections

  • Maintain basic documentation of quality issues and corrective actions

  • Work alongside leadership and external consultants to implement practical quality processes

  • Ensure consistency in product performance and adherence to specifications

Qualifications
  • 3–7 years of experience in manufacturing quality control (plastics preferred)

  • Hands-on experience with measurement and inspection tools

  • Proven ability to identify and address quality issues in real time

  • Comfortable working on the production floor for the majority of the day

  • Willingness to take ownership and enforce quality standards, even under pressure

What We’re Looking For
  • Someone who is action-oriented, not paperwork-focused

  • A person who will walk the floor, touch the product, and verify quality firsthand

  • Comfortable making tough calls, including stopping production when necessary

  • Practical thinker who focuses on solving problems, not creating bureaucracy
