Rapid Strategy is an award-winning, African-American-owned small business providing advanced cybersecurity and IT services to federal and commercial clients. Our mission is to deliver secure, high-impact solutions that protect and enable mission success. We are currently seeking a DevOps Engineer IV to support a federal customer, contingent upon contract award.
This role is responsible for leading the design, development, and maintenance of secure, scalable infrastructure that supports enterprise applications across development, QA, and production environments. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with automation skills, enabling continuous improvement of delivery pipelines, system stability, and operational excellence. This role requires a TS-SCI w/ CI Poly and is on-site in Reston VA.
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain resilient infrastructure solutions that optimize service delivery across the software development lifecycle.
  • Develop and manage automated build, packaging, and deployment processes to ensure efficiency and repeatability.
  • Implement infrastructure automation capabilities including backups, security tools, and system monitoring.
  • Utilize deployment/configuration management tools such as Jenkins, Maven, Ansible, or Puppet.
  • Apply a consistent DevOps approach to improve collaboration, automation, and end-to-end quality across functions.
  • Manage and optimize version control systems including Git, Bitbucket, or SVN.
  • Troubleshoot, monitor, and continuously improve infrastructure, applications, and deployment pipelines.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in cloud platforms, databases, networking, and security protocols.
  • Collaborate with developers, QA, and operations teams to align infrastructure with application and business needs.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide leadership in advanced technical projects.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux and/or Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, etc.).
  • Proficiency with deployment/configuration management tools such as Jenkins, Maven, Puppet, or Ansible.
  • Proficiency with scripting/programming languages such as Python, Bash, Perl, PHP, Java, SQL, or C++.
  • Strong understanding of networking, database management, and security protocols.
  • Demonstrated success working autonomously and delivering solutions to complex technical challenges.

Preferred Certifications (not required, but strongly valued)
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional or Associate).
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
  • HashiCorp Terraform Associate.
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent Linux certification.
  • Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert.
