Real Estate Construction Transactional Associate Attorney
Location: Irvine, CA
Compensation: $225,000–$285,000

Direct Counsel is seeking a Real Estate Construction Transactional Associate to join the Real Estate Practice of a premier California law firm in Irvine. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with 2–4 years of construction transactional or construction litigation experience who is interested in working on sophisticated real estate development and construction matters.

The ideal candidate has experience drafting and negotiating construction-related agreements or a strong construction litigation background with a demonstrated interest in transitioning to transactional work.

Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of construction and development agreements, including design and architect agreements, construction contracts, engineering and consulting agreements, construction licenses and easements, development management agreements, and project management agreements.
  • Advise clients on construction-related legal issues arising in connection with commercial real estate development projects.
  • Assist with real estate acquisitions, dispositions, financing transactions, title and survey review, and transactional due diligence.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary legal teams on complex real estate development matters.
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic advice regarding construction and development transactions.
  • Manage multiple matters while delivering practical, business-focused legal solutions.
  • Develop strong client relationships and contribute to sophisticated real estate projects throughout California.
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
  • 2–4 years of construction transactional experience or construction litigation experience with a strong interest in transactional practice.
  • Experience drafting or negotiating construction-related agreements preferred.
  • Experience with real estate acquisitions and dispositions, finance, title and survey review, and transactional due diligence is a plus.
  • Experience with data center leasing is helpful but not required.
  • Strong drafting, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively while managing significant individual responsibilities.
  • Major law firm experience preferred.
  • Active membership in the California Bar.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive base salary of $225,000–$285,000, depending on experience.
