Job Description

Wright Technical Services is proud to represent national accounting, tax, assurance, and advisory services firm for this position. This role will also support ongoing improvements and enhancements to our current reporting environment.

The successful candidate will independently analyze existing Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models, and SSAS models, reverse engineer the underlying business logic, and redesign, update, or recreate reporting solutions using the new data warehouse structure while maintaining existing functionality, security, and data accuracy.

The candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, data warehouse teams, and integration teams to understand reporting requirements, validate data, map existing business logic to the new data model, and deliver scalable reporting solutions.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience developing Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models.
  • Strong experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
  • Strong experience developing advanced DAX measures, calculations, KPIs, and report logic.
  • Experience working with SQL Server-based data warehouses and dimensional data models (fact and dimension tables).
  • Experience working with SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), including Tabular Models and Multidimensional Cubes.
  • Strong T-SQL skills with the ability to query, analyze, and validate data in Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience implementing and troubleshooting Row-Level Security (RLS) and Power BI security models.
  • Experience reverse engineering existing reports, dashboards, semantic models, and business logic.
  • Ability to understand legacy reporting solutions and redesign them to use a new data warehouse schema.
  • Experience migrating Power BI reports from one SQL Server data warehouse schema to another.
  • Experience translating business requirements into technical specifications and reporting solutions.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and understand existing Power BI reports, dashboards, SSAS models (Tabular Models and Multidimensional Cubes), report metrics, KPIs, calculations, security rules, and underlying business logic.
  • Reverse engineer existing reports to understand calculations, relationships, filters, Row-Level Security (RLS), and data access rules.
  • Enhance and modify existing Power BI reports and dashboards to support changing business requirements and reporting needs.
  • Redesign, update, and rebuild existing Power BI reports and dashboards using the new SQL Server data warehouse schema.
  • Map existing report metrics, calculations, and business logic from the legacy data warehouse to the new data warehouse structure while maintaining report functionality and data accuracy.
  • Develop and modify Power BI semantic models, DAX measures, calculations, and visualizations to support existing and new reporting requirements.
  • Update and maintain SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) solutions, including Tabular Models and Multidimensional Cubes, to support reporting requirements and new data warehouse structures.
  • Write and optimize T-SQL queries to validate data, troubleshoot issues, and support report development.
  • Validate updated reports by comparing results with existing reporting solutions and resolve data discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with data warehouse and integration teams to understand data models, business rules, data transformations, and reporting impacts.
  • Participate in discussions with business users to understand requirements, identify reporting gaps, and recommend solutions.
  • Document report logic, data mappings, assumptions, security rules, and technical specifications.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple report enhancement, redevelopment, and migration efforts.
