Job description

PROJECT MANAGERPosition Summary

Responsible for managing metal fabrication and erection projects from award through closeout. Oversees schedules, budgets, engineering submittals, fabrication sequencing, site installation, subcontractors, customer communication, and project documentation. Requires strong knowledge of structural steel design, installation, and field coordination.


Key ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & Coordination
  • Manage full project lifecycle from kickoff to closeout.

  • Develop schedules, manpower plans, equipment needs, and installation sequencing.

  • Coordinate engineering drawings, sealed calculations, and submittals.

  • Work with fabrication teams to ensure timely and accurate material release.
     

Construction & Field Oversight
  • Oversee installation of structural steel, stairs, rails, and miscellaneous steel on projects.

  • Conduct site visits to verify progress, quality, and field conditions.

  • Manage subcontractors, crews, equipment, and site logistics.

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, permits, and engineered drawings.
     

Customer & Stakeholder Management
  • Act as the primary contact for field superintendents and customer site managers.

  • Lead progress meetings and provide regular updates.

  • Address field issues, customer concerns, RFIs, and change requests.

Financial & Documentation Management
  • Maintain project budgets and invoicing. (“cost tracking, forecasting” removed per the marked edits)

  • Manage contracts, POs, vendor agreements, and closeout documentation.
     

Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure installations meet plans, specifications, and quality standards.

  • Conduct final inspections, punch lists, and maintain project records


Required Qualifications
  • 3–7+ years in construction project management (metal fabrication/steel preferred).

  • Strong understanding of steel fabrication, erection, and field layout.

  • Ability to read engineered drawings and manage subcontractors.

  • Effective communication and customer-facing skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, construction/project scheduling tools, and Procore.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.

  • Ability to visit construction sites, climb ladders, walk uneven surfaces, work in varied weather, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with structural steel, stairs, rails, and miscellaneous steel.

  • Knowledge of permitting, calculations, submittals, and project management.

  • OSHA 10/30 certification.

  • Experience in multifamily, commercial, or public-sector projects.
