Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW The Pool Cleaner is responsible for providing high-quality on-site maintenance and cleaning services for assigned commercial pool facilities. This role operates independently on a designated route and is responsible for ensuring pools are clean, safe, and compliant with applicable health, safety, and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include routine cleaning, water chemistry balancing, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs. This role requires the safe handling of tools, equipment, and commercial pool chemicals. For commercial pool operations, this position requires a valid Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification, or the ability to obtain certification within the Company-defined timeframe. This is a physically demanding field-based role performed in outdoor environments and around water and chemicals. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage and maintain an assigned commercial pool route
  • Perform routine cleaning including brushing, vacuuming, skimming, and filter maintenance
  • Test, balance, and adjust water chemistry in accordance with training and safety standards
  • Safely handle, transport, and apply pool chemicals in accordance with company protocols and SDS guidelines
  • Perform minor repairs including replacement of lights, fittings, gaskets, and basic plumbing components
  • Assist with installation and maintenance of pool-related systems including pumps, heaters, skimmers, and piping as assigned
  • Remove, fold, and store pool covers safely
  • Clean and maintain pool decks, furniture, and surrounding areas
  • Load and unload tools, materials, and chemicals from company vehicles safely
  • Complete accurate service logs, chemical readings, and daily job documentation
  • Report equipment issues, safety hazards, or property concerns immediately
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and applicable regulations
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior experience in pool maintenance, facilities maintenance, or similar field preferred
  • Working knowledge of pool systems, water chemistry, and chemical safety procedures
  • Ability to safely handle and apply commercial-grade chemicals following training guidelines
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized procedures
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned route efficiently
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for Company vehicle insurance coverage
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPO certification (required for commercial pool operations)
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS
  • Pool Cleaners require flexible schedules and may work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and work overtime depending on business needs.
  • Ability to work during certain holidays, particularly during peak summer months, as recruiting is critical during these times. Pool Cleaners must be available on summer holiday days and corresponding weekends; specifically Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Fourth of July, and Labor Day.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 85+ pounds regularly
  • Ability to work outdoors for prolonged periods in extreme heat, humidity, rain, cold, and other weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely work around water, wet surfaces, and mechanical equipment
  • Ability to safely handle and apply chemicals using required PPE
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
