Job Description:

The person hired for the position of MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN I will work at our Indianapolis, IN 3M plant site.

As a MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN I you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world.

  • Troubleshoot/repair mechanical equipment and components, hydraulic/pneumatic equipment, electrical equipment, web handling systems, pumps, etc.
  • Implement and improve preventive maintenance procedures
  • Determines parts, tools, and supplies necessary for the jobs
  • Supporting management with scrutiny of all maintenance spending and proper parts inventory
  • Ensure all machine tool equipment is maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this 3M Production role, in compliance with U.S. labor and safety laws.

  • Possess a Two (2) year Technical Degree/Diploma or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in a Mechanical Discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years of experience installing, diagnosing and repairing high speed assembly and/or automated packaging machinery in a manufacturing environment.
  • Three (3) years of experience diagnosing and repairing electrical power supply, machine control device, pneumatic, hydraulic equipment(s) in a manufacturing environment.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Three (3) years of Industrial Maintenance experience
  • Ability to perform basic machining, fabrication, welding, pipe fitting, and millwright tasks

Applicants who meet the basic qualifications above will be required to take and pass 3M elected testing as a part of the selection process.
