Chipton-Ross is seeking experienced Pipe Welders 1st 2nd and 3rd class to support one of the nation's premier shipbuilding operations in Pascagoula, Mississippi. If you have proven TIG and Stick welding experience and can perform high-quality welds to military specifications, this is an outstanding opportunity to join a world-class shipbuilding team working on mission-critical vessels.

What You'll Do


As a Pipe Welder 1st Class, you will perform precision welding on stainless steel and copper-nickel piping systems used in military ship construction and repair.


Responsibilities include:

  • Perform GTAW (TIG) and SMAW (Stick) welding on pipe systems
  • Weld stainless steel and copper-nickel pipe to military specifications
  • Complete high-quality welds capable of passing X-ray inspection standards
  • Read and follow welding procedures, blueprints, and work instructions
  • Work safely in shipyard environments that may include confined spaces, varying heights, and changing weather conditions
  • Maintain quality, productivity, and safety standards throughout all phases of construction


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of pipe welding experience
  • Proven experience with:
    • Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG)
    • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/Stick)
  • Ability to pass:
    • Military standard X-ray welding test
    • Welding assessment in 2G, 3G, 4G, and restricted 6G positions
  • Experience welding stainless steel and copper-nickel pipe
  • Ability to work in an industrial shipyard environment
  • High School Diploma or GED


Welding Test Requirements

Candidates must successfully complete:

  • Restricted 6G pipe welding test
  • 5-inch Schedule 80 carbon steel pipe test
  • GTAW (TIG) root pass
  • 11018 electrode fill and cap welds
  • Military specification X-ray inspection standards
