Your Role:

Microbiology Lab Technician - 3rd Shift (10:00 PM - 6:30 AM Sunday night through Friday morning)
The Micro Lab Technician II supports microbiological testing and laboratory operations in a cGMP-regulated pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing environment. This position performs routine microbiological testing, environmental monitoring activities, laboratory maintenance, data collection, and documentation while ensuring compliance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.

Your Profile:

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine microbiological testing in accordance with approved SOPs and cGMP requirements.
  • Conduct Environmental Monitoring (EM) activities, including:
    • Viable air sampling
    • Surface monitoring
    • Personnel monitoring
    • Non-viable particulate monitoring
  • Collect and process water samples for microbiological analysis.
  • Support sample preparation, incubation, and documentation activities.
  • Perform media preparation, sterilization, and autoclaving of laboratory materials and supplies.
  • Conduct precut and support activities required for environmental monitoring programs.
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and housekeeping in accordance with GMP standards.
  • Retrieve samples, supplies, and testing materials from the warehouse to support laboratory operations.
  • Operate and monitor autoclave equipment for sterilization of media, glassware, and laboratory materials.
  • Accurately document laboratory activities, observations, and test results in notebooks, worksheets, and electronic systems.
  • Review laboratory records for completeness and compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Trend environmental monitoring data and communicate potential adverse trends to supervision.
  • Verify equipment calibration status prior to use and ensure equipment is operating properly.
  • Communicate equipment issues or maintenance needs to management promptly.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, and other departments to support production schedules and project timelines.
  • Participate in laboratory investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or coursework in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a microbiology laboratory environment.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, food, or contract testing laboratories preferred.
  • Experience performing environmental monitoring in controlled environments is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of microbiological laboratory techniques and aseptic practices.
  • Understanding of cGMP, Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and laboratory SOPs.
  • Ability to follow written procedures accurately and consistently.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to gown aseptically and work in cleanroom environments.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or adjusted schedules to support production and laboratory operations.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety practices and procedures.

Target Pay Rate: $26 - 30/hour + 15% Differential working on 3rd Shift (10:00 PM - 6:30 AM Sunday night through Friday morning)
