We are seeking a Senior Payroll Manager responsible for supporting, guiding and overseeing all payroll operations for over 1300+ employees under 8+ payroll codes within the Tarkett Sports U.S. and Canadian entities. The Senior Payroll Manager oversees the accurate and timely processing of employee wages, benefits, deductions, tax filings, and Davis-Bacon Act reporting with applicable laws and regulations.   • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accurate and timely payments.
  • Ensure payroll deductions, vacation accruals, journal entries, accruals, and adjustments are accurate and properly approved.
  • Oversee ADP master administration and payroll data integrity.
Unions and Certified Payroll
  • Manage payroll for unionized employees in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and collective agreements.
  • Ensure accurate application of union wage scales, overtime, shift differentials, benefits, dues, pension contributions, and other union-related deductions.
  • Support union audits and oversee timely, accurate certified payroll reporting for government contracts and prevailing wage jobs.
Benefits
  • Partner with the Benefits team to validate carrier invoices and ensure timely processing.
  • Coordinate weekly 401(k) funding and support annual 401(k) audits.
Compliance & Taxation
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local payroll tax and labor requirements.
  • Partner with ADP on payroll tax filings and issue resolution.
  • Serve as a point of contact for labor and tax authorities, including the IRS and Revenu Quebec.
  • Manage year-end payroll processes, including T4, RL-1, W-2, 1099, and audit support.
Team Management
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of payroll specialists.
  • Provide training on payroll systems, processes, and compliance.
  • Manage team performance and workload distribution to meet deadlines.
Process Improvements
  • Continuously evaluate payroll processes and recommend improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Support payroll system enhancements, integrations, data flow optimization, automation, and process standardization.
  • Develop and maintain payroll process maps, internal controls, and documentation.
Employee Support
  • Resolve employee payroll inquiries and discrepancies in a timely, professional manner.
  • Partner with HR on benefits deductions, retirement plans, and leave balances.
Confidentiality & Security
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll information and ensure payroll data is handled securely.
What you need for success:
  • Education - bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience
    • 10+ years of payroll processing experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
    • In-depth knowledge of payroll systems and related software (e.g., ADP, Workday, etc.).
    • Experience with Davis-Bacon certified payroll reporting, accounting payroll entries, payroll tax laws and compliance, including federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Systems Knowledge - Proficiency in payroll systems, especially ADP; exposure to Workday, HRIS, and timekeeping systems is a plus as well as ERP financial modules for journal entry postings.
  • Skills - Strong accounting knowledge, attention to detail, analytical mindset, problem-solving ability, and excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Adaptability - Ability to thrive under pressure and consistently meet tight deadlines.
  • Compliance Expertise - Deep knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and labor requirements across U.S. and Canada including union and certified payroll requirements.
  • Certifications (Preferred) - Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent credential.
  • Travel - occasional
  • May require additional hours during peak payroll periods or year-end processing.
