Orientation & Mobility Specialist
Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Full Time / Contract
The Orientation & Mobility Specialist provides specialized educational support services for students. This role collaborates with educators, related service providers, and families to promote student success while complying with district, state, and federal requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assess orientation and mobility needs.
  • Provide direct mobility instruction.
  • Develop individualized mobility goals.
  • Teach safe travel techniques.
  • Recommend adaptive equipment.
  • Participate in ARD meetings.
  • Collaborate with TVIs and families.
  • Maintain evaluation reports.
  • Support student independence.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Certifications
Bachelor's/Master's degree with ACVREP certification or Texas credentials.
Preferred Qualifications
  • School-based experience.
  • Knowledge of visual impairments.
  • Excellent instructional skills.
