Job description

Who We Are

At Encore Fire Protection, we are proud to be the east coast's largest full-service fire protection company, serving over 90,000 customers from Maine to Louisiana. With a team of over 2,200 dedicated employees, we provide innovative, customized fire suppression, fire sprinkler, and fire alarm solutions that protect lives and properties every day.

Our goal is to deliver superior experience to those who trust us to safeguard what matters most. We are passionate about continuous growth, innovation, and maintaining a culture that thrives on success and commitment to safety. Our mission? To be the best fire protection company the industry has ever seen.

The Opportunity

Naturally outgoing, detail-oriented, and unapologetically persistent are just a few of the words we'd use to describe the ideal Deficiency Sales Representative. People who do best in this role are often recognized for their ability to start a conversation with just about anyone and are known for never taking no for an answer. If this sounds like you, there may be an opportunity for you at Encore Fire Protection.

You are a proven team player who can also work independently. You're confident in the details and small intricacies, while still able to see the bigger picture. You're highly organized and bring strong time management skills that allow you to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

This is not a typical inside sales role. You will be paired with an outside sales executive and will be expected to spend time in the office working with internal resources to accurately quote work, develop proposals, and communicate with customers by phone and email, but the similarities end there.

Key Responsibilities

Day to day, your work will blend customer conversations, quoting, and site visits that turn inspection results into clear, actionable proposals. In this role, you will:

  • Work with customers to build long-standing relationships.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as Operations, to ensure that the customer is getting our unique experience.
  • Be the customer's advocate and primary point of contact for questions and requests, connecting them with the right team members as needed.
  • Review past inspection reports to accurately determine system deficiencies and work with customers to quote and service the system.
  • Perform administrative duties such as writing and sending contract renewals, filling out proposals and forms, etc.

That will account for about 70% of your time. The rest of the time you will be encouraged to get out of the office to meet customers face-to-face, build rapport, and survey life safety equipment so that you can effectively quote and sell contracts.

What You Bring to the Table
  • Hands on experience with fire alarm and or sprinkler systems
  • Formal sales experience that goes beyond retail or hospitality, ideally selling a service
  • Strong organization and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple quotes, follow ups, and deadlines
  • Comfortable reading inspection reports and translating findings into clear next steps
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, with the mindset to learn new tools quickly
  • Willingness to dive into platforms like HubSpot and ServiceTrade and self-teach as needed
  • A genuine people-first approach, able to build trust with customers and internal teams
  • Persistence, resilience, and comfort having direct, honest conversations when decisions need to be made

What Will Make You Stand Out?

  • You have experience in life safety, fire protection, or another building services or route-based service business
  • You have a track record of turning inspection findings into signed contracts and completed work
  • You have prior experience using HubSpot, ServiceTrade, or similar CRM and service management tools
  • You have experience partnering directly with outside sales, operations, and service teams to support shared revenue goals
  • You have a familiarity with NFPA standards or local code requirements related to fire alarm and sprinkler systems
  • You can demonstrate an ability to get in front of customers, build rapport quickly, and stay top of mind without being pushy
Beyond the Paycheck

  • Competitive Salary: Compensation commensurate with your experience, with the opportunity to earn performance-based bonuses tied to your personal effectiveness and contributions to the team.
