Job description

SMS is hiring a Sr. Telecommunications Specialist to support our Base Infrastructure Modernization (BIM) contract on site at the Air National Guard location. This position provides on-site Tier 2 support augmenting Air National Guard Communications Squadron (CS) personnel in operating legacy NIPR and SIPR Base Area Network infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site Tier 2 support augmenting Air National Guard Communications Squadron (CS) personnel in operating legacy NIPR and SIPR Base Area Network infrastructure
  • Perform shared Tier 2 duties including fielding network equipment, troubleshooting network equipment, configuring network devices, monitoring network performance, and collecting network performance data
  • Respond to Enterprise IT Service Management (EITSM) tickets and service calls from Client System Administrators, Functional System Administrators, and Communications Focal Point personnel
  • Install, maintain, and repair telecommunications equipment and infrastructure including network switches, routers, wireless access points, and fiber optic systems
  • Perform Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) troubleshooting and repair activities
  • Execute security patching per vendor guidance and maintains configuration management
  • Operates under tactical command and control of base CS while coordinating with BIM Vendor Tier 3/4 engineering support
  • Support change management processes following TO 00-33A-1100 and local standard operating procedures
  • Participate in configuration control board meetings
  • Available on-call 24/7 for contingency operations and crisis response as mission essential personnel
  • Work closely with CS Network Control Center personnel

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in telecommunications systems, network operations, or related field
  • CompTIA Security +CE
  • CompTIA A +CE certifications or equivalent required
  • DoD Secret security clearance required
