Job description

STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES develops and integrates products, engineering support, repair and maintenance services to provide value-added solutions to owners, engineers and contractors. We provide specialty contracting services through our contracting companies, and state-of-the-art proprietary products and engineering support services through our technologies company. With over 2,500 employees working from locations nationwide and in select international markets, we serve the Commercial, Public, Transportation Industrial, and Power markets to tackle the toughest construction challenges. STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES is the in-house engineering business line of Structural Group.
Join Our Team as a Structural Engineer!
STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES is seeking motivated early-career engineers to join our nationwide assessment and repair engineering division. Opportunities are available in our Chicago, Columbia, and Houston offices, with remote options in the Charlotte or Chattanooga areas for qualified candidates. This hybrid role combines intentional in-person collaboration with work-from-home flexibility, offering a challenging and rewarding start to your structural engineering career.
As the largest concrete specialty repair contractor in the United States, the STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES group delivers investigate-design-build solutions primarily for nuclear, power generation, and industrial clients. Our teams develop innovative repair strategies, integrated products, and engineering support to extend the life and performance of critical infrastructure. Engineers here don't just design - they see their solutions built, tested, and relied on in live operating facilities across the country.
In this role, you'll apply and expand your engineering skills while shaping a career path aligned with your interests. We're looking for engineers who want to understand why structures fail - not just design them - and who are eager to be accountable for real-world performance. Supported by experienced mentors, you'll gain hands-on exposure across engineering and construction disciplines, including:
  • Gain exposure to structural failure mechanisms;
  • Evaluate distressed structures and determine root cause;
  • Decide when repair vs. replacement is appropriate;
  • Design repairs that must be constructible, durable, and safe in live Nuclear or industrial facilities
  • Work side by side with construction teams-not just hand off drawings.

This position offers future career progression to both our business leadership and technical leadership pathways in engineering.
Skills and Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
Education, Certification, and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering
  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam is mandatory
  • Professional registration is preferred
  • 3 - 6 years of experience

Technical Skills
  • Solid understanding of how structures behave
  • Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis software such as SAP2000, RISA3D, or STAAD
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or other drafting/BIM software

Soft Skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Enthusiasm and curiosity for solving problems and understanding how things work
  • Excellent documentation and organizational abilities

Field Work
  • Ability to travel and work in the field, both locally and outside the local area
  • Capability to enter secure facilities (e.g., Nuclear and Industrial plants).
  • Strong focus on working safely in a variety of challenging environments

Structural Technologies is proud of a company culture that promotes 24/7 safety and quality. EOE/M/F/D/V
