Contract Nestjs Developer information

What is a contract Nestjs developer?

Contract Nestjs Developers are software professionals who specialize in building server-side applications using the NestJS framework on a contractual basis. These developers are typically hired for specific projects or timeframes to design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient backend systems using NestJS, which is a popular Node.js framework. Contract Nestjs Developers often collaborate with frontend teams, write APIs, and integrate various services while ensuring code quality and project deliverables. Their expertise allows companies to quickly scale development efforts without committing to long-term employment.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a contract Nestjs developer?

To thrive as a Contract Nestjs Developer, you need strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, solid experience with Node.js, and a thorough understanding of the Nestjs framework, typically supported by a computer science degree or relevant certifications. Familiarity with RESTful APIs, database systems like MongoDB or PostgreSQL, and tools such as Git and Docker are commonly required. Excellent problem-solving, self-management, and communication skills help you deliver quality code and collaborate effectively in remote or distributed teams. These skills ensure that you can build scalable, maintainable applications efficiently and meet client expectations in a contract-based environment.

What are some common challenges faced by contract Nestjs developers when joining new projects?

Contract NestJS developers often encounter challenges such as quickly understanding legacy codebases, adapting to varying coding standards, and aligning with different team workflows. Since contract roles usually require fast onboarding, developers must efficiently communicate with in-house teams to clarify requirements and expectations. Additionally, they may need to integrate with diverse technology stacks and ensure their code aligns with the project's architectural patterns, all while adhering to tight deadlines typical of contract assignments.

Job description

Job Summary:
LVT (LiveView Technologies) is redefining how businesses operate in the physical world with AI-driven intelligence solutions. The Staff Fullstack Software Engineer will set the technical direction for software across the UI and backend services, owning architecture end-to-end and mentoring engineers to elevate their capabilities.
Responsibilities:
• End-to-End Technical Direction: Act as the technical authority across the stack (UI, BFF, GraphQL APIs, and backend data systems), driving architectural decisions that span multiple teams, authoring foundational design docs, and shipping the most complex core components.
• Cross-Service Architecture & Debugging: Trace and resolve complex, systemic issues across service boundaries—from the front-end to backend subgraphs and authorization layers—serving as the ultimate escalation point when technical layers disagree.
• Federation & Contract Governance: Own the health, evolution, and long-term hygiene of our GraphQL federation graph and data contracts, establishing safe schema evolution and migration paths for product teams.
• Scale, Reliability, & Observability: Raise the operational bar by defining meaningful SLOs, end-to-end tracing, and comprehensive dashboards, ensuring real-time WebSocket and device-control paths degrade gracefully and operate reliably.
• Multiplier-Level Teamwork: Mentor and coach engineers across both frontend and backend disciplines, elevating code review standards, leading cross-functional design discussions, and partnering with cross-org stakeholders to land large-scale technical initiatives.
• Continuous Engineering Improvement: Systematically identify and resolve global organizational bottlenecks, optimizing for total stack type-safety, CI/CD performance, legacy surface deprecations, and on-call developer ergonomics.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 8+ years of professional development experience utilizing TypeScript across both client and server
• Proven production experience leading non-trivial architectures in React and Next.js (App Router)
• Deep production expertise designing and operating Node.js backend services (NestJS preferred)
• Strong command of GraphQL ecosystems (Apollo Server, schema design, federation, subscriptions, and N+1/DataLoader patterns)
• Comprehensive experience with relational databases (MySQL preferred), query builders/ORMs (such as Knex), database migrations
• Working knowledge of scaling WebSocket-based real-time data flows
• Robust understanding of modern authentication/authorization patterns (OAuth/OIDC, JWT, and ABAC/ReBAC models)
• Practical knowledge of Docker, container orchestration, and optimization of fast, trustworthy CI/CD pipelines
• Outstanding analytical and debugging skills with the ability to safely navigate, test, and refactor complex legacy software (older React and Webpack codebases)
• Demonstrated technical leadership
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills required to align engineering teams and business stakeholders around multi-quarter technical strategies
Preferred:
• Familiarity with message brokers (RabbitMQ)
• IoT/device protocols (MQTT)
• Policy engines (Cedar, OPA)
• Observability tools (OpenTelemetry, Sentry, Coralogix)
• Monorepos (Turbo, Bun)
• Physical security/video streaming platforms
Company:
LVT provides rapidly-deployable surveillance hardware that runs on our proprietary SaaS platform. Founded in 2005, the company is headquartered in Orem, USA, with a team of 501-1000 employees. The company is currently Late Stage.
