What is a Node Js Contract?

A Node.js contract job is a temporary or freelance position where a developer is hired to work on projects using Node.js. These contracts can range from short-term assignments to multi-month engagements, depending on the company’s needs. Contractors typically work on backend development, API integrations, or full-stack applications. They may be hired by startups, enterprises, or agencies looking for specialized expertise on a project basis.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a Node Js Contract?

To excel as a Node Js Contract developer, you generally need expertise in JavaScript, Node.js, asynchronous programming, RESTful API design, and relevant frameworks such as Express.js, often supported by a degree in computer science or similar experience. Familiarity with version control systems (like Git), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), and experience with databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL) are commonly required, and certifications in cloud services or back-end development can be advantageous. Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and the ability to work independently or within distributed teams help candidates stand out. These skills ensure Node Js contractors can deliver robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions while collaborating efficiently in dynamic environments.

What types of projects or team structures can a Node Js Contract developer expect to work on?

Node Js Contract developers typically engage with a wide variety of projects, including building APIs, developing microservices, optimizing server-side performance, and integrating cloud-based solutions. Many roles involve joining agile teams working on short- to medium-term projects, either augmenting existing teams with specialized skills or spearheading new feature development. Contractors often collaborate closely with front-end developers, DevOps engineers, and product managers, requiring adaptability to different workflows and communication styles. This variety provides valuable exposure to new technologies and architectures, often accelerating professional growth and skill diversification.

Job Description: Senior Concierge Cloud Engineer (AWS / Kubernetes / IaC)

Position Type: Contract to Hire

Compensation: $75-85

Location: On-Site, Salt Lake City

Overview

The Senior Concierge Cloud Engineer serves as an elite, high-touch technical partner and advisor—bridging advanced cloud infrastructure with key organizational stakeholders. This role goes beyond traditional engineering to deliver a “white-glove,” consultative service by designing, optimizing, and maintaining highly secure, scalable, and resilient AWS environments tailored to critical business needs. You will act as a trusted advisor who proactively embeds into client and developer workflows to optimize cloud spend, integrate AI-enabled capabilities, mentor engineering teams, and elevate the overall cloud experience.

Required Skills
  • Proven ability to operate as a trusted technical liaison and build strong stakeholder relationships across engineering, product, and business teams.
  • Strong ability to translate complex infrastructure, security, and architectural concepts into clear, actionable guidance for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Hands‑on experience designing, building, and maintaining highly available AWS environments, including leading seamless deployments with minimal disruption.
  • Expert‑level AWS knowledge and strong containerization experience, including Kubernetes and container tooling.
  • Strong Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation capability using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef, or SaltStack, plus GitFlow and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Travis, Jenkins).
  • Deep Linux systems administration expertise.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, Java, or Node.js.
  • Experience designing and implementing monitoring/observability solutions using tools such as Dynatrace, CloudWatch, Nagios, IPMon, or similar.
  • Familiarity with DevOps, Scrum, and ITIL methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to take incident ownership, perform root‑cause analysis, and participate in an on‑call rotation focused on reliability.
  • Strong documentation habits—able to maintain clear, comprehensive architecture and process documentation.
Nice to Have Skills
  • Practical experience designing, integrating, or leveraging AI‑assisted development tools and Generative AI capabilities within cloud platforms to improve operational efficiency and developer productivity.
  • Experience driving modernization initiatives and continuous improvement through automation and cross‑functional innovation.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 7+ years of overall IT/infrastructure experience.
  • 3+ years of dedicated, hands‑on experience designing and managing AWS cloud services.
  • Proven experience in a customer‑facing / consultative / high‑touch advisory capacity.
  • Preferred: 4+ years architecting and managing production Kubernetes environments.
  • Preferred: 8+ years as a Linux Systems Administrator/Engineer.
  • Preferred: 6+ years collaborating as a bridge between software development and operations teams.
