Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry Discipline: RN Start Date: 08/31/2026 Duration: 26 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Days, 4x12hrs Hours: 48 hrs/wk Start Date: Aug 31, 2026 Length: 26 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Ortho RN for a day-shift travel assignment requiring a MO or compact RN license and at least 1 year of recent Med Surg/Ortho experience. Details Inpatient Med Surg/Ortho unit with 30 beds Patient ratio of 1:6 Medical patient population post trauma, surgical intervention, and with medical comorbidities EPIC EMR utilized Day shift schedule, 07:00-19:30 Every other weekend required as needed by facility No call requirements Floating required as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit Requirements Active RN license (Missouri or Compact) required at time of consideration BLS certification from AHA required ACLS certification from AHA preferred Minimum 1 year of recent Med Surg/Ortho inpatient experience required No employment gaps of 90 days within the past 12 months Valid U.S. Social Security Number required; Canadian SINs not accepted Additional Information Provides direct patient care across all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation Coordinates patient care with ancillary departments to optimize comfort and outcomes Maintains professional accountability and patient confidentiality per Mercy Service Standards Works within scope of the Missouri Nurse Practice Act and Mercy Code of Conduct Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids May push/pull/grip up to 50 lbs and occasionally kneel, crouch, or crawl Night shift staff orient on day shift and must be available the full orientation week Black scrubs required Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required November 1 through April 1; declinations not accepted RTO of 5 days or less allowed but must be made up during the assignment Only 1 holiday RTO request permitted per assignment Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius, with a reduced bill rate Candidates within 50 miles limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before requiring a 1-year separation or transfer outside the radius First-time travelers may be considered American Traveler Job ID P-750055.
