Chemours is seeking aMechanical Maintenance and Reliability Engineer to join our growing team. This position will be available at the New Johnsonville Plant in New Johnsonville, TN and report directly to the Asset & Reliability Manager.

A Mechanical Maintenance and Reliability Engineer will be assigned an operating area to support daily maintenance activities for mechanical crews and operators reporting to the Asset & Reliability Manager. The engineer will be expected to drive mechanical issues to root cause using a team-based approach. The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will be expected to provide timely, accurate analyses and recommendations for small, acute issues, as well as develop long term strategies for defect elimination and improved operations.

The roles and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide mechanical engineering assistance to maintenance and operations including troubleshooting, evaluation of equipment failures, and technical recommendations for repairs and upgrades.

  • Review preventive maintenance plans toassureoptimumprocessand frequency of performance, for reliability, cost, and Mechanical Integrity needs.

  • Develop knowledge in area specific equipment to become subject matter experts for the review and preparation of maintenance work procedures and skillsdevelopment/training.

  • Initiate management of change documents to improve the safety, quality, environmental impact or cost of the production area.

  • Write RFPs and basic data for reliability driven improvements and equipment retirement replacements​.

  • Initiate management of change (MOC) documents.​

  • Review inspection reports and analyze datatodeterminefitnessfor service, quality ofinspection,appropriateinspectioninterval,etc.

  • Provide technical assistance to develop and implement Mechanical Integrity/Quality Assurance, reliability, and PPM programs for the unit.

  • Participate in process hazards analyses and scope development for capital projects.

  • Lead area root cause failure analysis teams, kaizen events, and problem-solving sessions.

  • Prepare and audit scopes of work, estimates, schedules and equipment specifications.

  • Evaluate vendor proposals and designs and exercise effective judgment around functionality, cost, and timing.

  • Network with site reliability engineers and technicians to support improvement initiatives.

The following is required for this role:

  • BS in Mechanical, Materials, or Industrial Engineering.

  • Minimum of 1 year of Engineering experience.

  • Knowledge of corporate standards.

  • Familiarity with RAGEGAP, ASME Code, and API Standards.

  • Understanding of machine shop operations and fabrication techniques.

  • Working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office software.

The following is preferred for this role:

  • Knowledge of SAP or similar Maintenance Management experience preferred.

  • Understanding of PSM systems and high hazard processes.

  • Manage and lead both strategic long-term programs/projects as well as address short-term operational issues.

  • Clearly communicate technical ideas with a diverse team.

  • Ability to manage work and undertake multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence leadership, peers, and mechanics; able to take a "hands-on" approach with operators and mechanics to drive change and get results.

  • Ability to wear a full-face respirator and work in permitted confined spaces.

  • Perform tasks that require climbing, crawling, and bending.

  • Openness to travel and work overtime when needed.

  • **Preferred Certifications include**API 510, API 570, API 653, NBIC, NDE level II for visual, UT, PT, vibration, CWI.

  • Pressure relief design and specification.

  • Engineering Standard for chemical hoses.

  • Engineering Standard for cross connections.

  • Above Ground Storage Tanks.

  • Pressure Vessels and Heat Exchangers.
