Job description

Summary

The Marketing Assistant is responsible for implementing, administering, organizing, and conducting activities to assist the Marketing team in all areas of responsibility. They work closely with Category Managers to support marketing promotions and functions.

Essential Functions

Assist in preparation of material for all sales and marketing functions (i.e., monthly sign packages, trade shows and pre-bookings).

Assist with new item set up, coordinate announcements, obtain images, track new items, and request samples.

Manage restroom, cleaning supply, sunglass, bait cooler, and other various programs.

Manage bill-backs for vendor programs and report promotions based on sales.

Compile and document a variety of information (accrual programs, contest results, vendor contracts on marketing programs, marketing incentive program points, customer promotional allowances, etc.)

Work with software vendors on the tradeshow and tradeshow book.

Answer or direct vendor, sales, and customer requests.

Communicate effectively with employees at all levels.

Perform duties with minimal direction.

Various tasks as directed by management.

Competencies

Microsoft Office software and main frame computer skills.

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Must have well-developed interpersonal skills to promote harmonious relationships with staff, peers, and supervisors.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Hours listed are general hours and may be altered as needed. Additional hours may be required to fulfill job duties and position expectations.

Preferred Education and Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED);

One year or more experience and/or training in wholesale/retail sale of consumer products; or

Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Post-secondary education preferred.
