Job description

Position: Strategic Finance Analyst

Location: Fargo, ND

Employment Type: 9-Month Contract

Start Date: September 14, 2026

Schedule: Flexible to support Pacific and Central Time Zones

Pay rate: $30/hr. on W2


Overview

Seeking an experienced Strategic Finance Analyst to support strategic capital investments and high-priority business initiatives. This role will partner with Project Managers, Finance leadership, business sponsors, and senior executives to develop business cases, evaluate investments, monitor project financials, support change controls, and assess project outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze financial business cases for capital investments and strategic initiatives.
  • Build complex financial models using advanced Excel, financial systems, and data-query tools.
  • Evaluate ROI, NPV, cost/benefit, margin, underwriting, and capital requirements.
  • Reconcile approved business cases with project plans and analyze financial impacts of scope, cost, timing, and benefit changes.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis for business opportunities, bids, contracts, system conversions, new products, and other initiatives.
  • Translate complex financial analysis into clear recommendations for senior management and executives.
  • Support project closeout, variance analysis, and post-implementation benefit realization.
  • Manage multiple assignments independently while collaborating with stakeholders across the organization.


Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Statistics, or related field.
  • Approximately 6–8 years of relevant finance/accounting experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Strong understanding of ROI, NPV, cost/benefit analysis, margin analysis, underwriting, and capital planning.
  • Experience with financial systems and data-query tools preferred.
  • Strong analytical, communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, challenge assumptions, and provide sound financial recommendations.
  • CPA, CMA, MBA, ASA, and health insurance experience preferred but not required.
