About the Role:
U.S. Pipe is seeking a Maintenance Planner/scheduler for our Lynchburg location. This facility is a heavy industrial manufacturing operation. The Maintenance Planner works within the Maintenance Team to monitor, initiate repair, and develop improvement plans for equipment and assets that provide operational readiness to our production and business goals. The Maintenance Planner plays a critical role in supporting production reliability by coordinating maintenance planning, scheduling repairs, managing work orders, and ensuring the availability of parts, equipment, and contractor resources needed to maintain operational readiness and achieve business objectives.
As a Maintenance Planner, you are:
  • Responsible for planning Maintenance Department weekend work, coordinating with the Maintenance Leadership team.
  • Responsible for Planning Shutdown work, coordinating with Maintenance Leadership team.
  • Responsible for controlling the Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Annual work order system, MaintainQ.
  • Responsible for coordinating with Vendors and Contractors, using the competitive bidding process, to secure parts and contract work at a favorable cost.
  • Responsible for communicating with Production and scheduling requested work.
  • Responsible for purchasing and organizing parts, supplies, and equipment required to complete open work orders and Maintenance projects.
  • Process work orders, create weekly and daily schedules by area specific to assigned hourly employees.
  • Work with Maintenance Leadership to develop and implement preventive maintenance equipment schedules.
  • Work with Reliability Engineer to generate reports to monitor maintenance execution, including but not limited to open and completed work order reports, PM Completion %, MTBF, etc.
  • Analyzes CMMS data to develop strategies to improve the cost effectiveness of ongoing maintenance services.
  • Work with Reliability Engineer to record and maintain active critical parts equipment lists / files by department.
  • Maintains CMMS database and performs routine maintenance on system.
  • Responsible for requesting new items to be stocked in the storeroom.
  • Enforces the Company's plant and safety rules and policies and issues fair and consistent discipline.
  • Receives, evaluates, and responds to first-step grievances as required, consulting with the Maintenance Specialist as required.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED is required, Associate or two year technical or trade school degree is desired.
  • 2-4+ years of previous maintenance planning/scheduling experience is desired.
  • Must have at least 7 years of work experience in mechanical and electrical industrial maintenance in a fast-paced manufacturing, powerhouse, or construction environment.
  • Must have the ability to plan electrical and mechanical repairs and maintenance work.
  • Ability to identify and repair electrical and mechanical maintenance problems or administrate corrective action.
  • Understanding of drawings, and schematics, with ability to identify and order parts from them.
  • Must be self-leading and possess the communication skills to work in an up-tempo team environment.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must possess good problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects while meeting all required deadlines.
  • Good understanding of safety and the desire to follow all established procedures.
  • Must be proficient in using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint software.
  • Previous SAP and CMMS system experience is a plus.
  • Previous work experience working in a union environment is a plus.
  • LEAN Manufacturing/OSHA Safety certifications are a plus.
