Job description

Role: Machinist/Fabricator

Location: Bastrop, TX

Employment Type: 13 weeks contract to hire full-time conversion

Hours: 60 hours/week
Shift: Day Shift


Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of experience in fabrication, welding, machining, mechanical assembly, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using common fabrication equipment, power tools, and hand tools such as waterjet machines (OMAX preferred), CNC machines (ProtoTRAK preferred), manual lathes, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate and assemble custom production equipment, fixtures, tooling, and test systems using a variety of fabrication techniques and shop equipment.
  • Operate manufacturing equipment including mills, lathes, press brakes, welders, presses, CNC machinery, and other fabrication tools to produce high-quality components.
  • Build and integrate complex mechanical and electromechanical assemblies involving precision mechanical components, electrical wiring, pneumatic systems, and related hardware.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and work instructions to ensure assemblies are built accurately and meet design specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to identify improvements and develop practical fabrication solutions for new and existing equipment.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe fabrication area while following established safety procedures and inventory control practices.
  • Support workplace organization initiatives by following 5S principles and maintaining efficient shop operations.
  • Demonstrate initiative by identifying opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, tooling, and overall shop efficiency.
