From single-room installations to multi-site enterprise deployments, our team takes pride in solving complex challenges and building lasting relationships.

We’re looking for a detail-oriented, solutions-driven Low Voltage Estimator / Designer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on industry knowledge who enjoys developing accurate estimates, reviewing construction documents, creating system designs, and developing practical solutions for commercial low-voltage projects.

The ideal candidate has experience estimating and designing low-voltage systems and understands how to translate customer requirements, drawings, and specifications into accurate scopes of work, bills of materials, proposals, and installation-ready designs.

Position Overview

This is an in-house position based out of our Irvine office. The majority of responsibilities will be office-based, with occasional travel to customer and project sites for site surveys, walkthroughs, meetings, and project coordination.

The Low Voltage Estimator / Designer will work closely with customers, project managers, vendors, subcontractors, and field technicians to develop accurate estimates and effective system designs from initial opportunity through project handoff.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop accurate estimates for commercial low-voltage projects based on drawings, specifications, site conditions, and customer requirements.
  • Review architectural, electrical, technology, and construction drawings to identify project requirements and potential installation challenges.
  • Develop scopes of work, bills of materials (BOMs), proposals, and pricing for low-voltage projects.
  • Design and lay out low-voltage systems based on project requirements, applicable standards, and best practices.
  • Estimate labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and other project requirements.
  • Perform site surveys and walkthroughs to gather field information and verify existing conditions.
  • Interpret plans, specifications, bid documents, and customer requirements to develop complete and competitive proposals.
  • Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers to obtain product information, pricing, availability, and technical recommendations.
  • Work with project managers and field technicians to ensure estimates and designs are practical, accurate, and aligned with installation requirements.
  • Identify scope gaps, potential conflicts, and project risks during the estimating and design process.
  • Assist with value engineering and provide alternative solutions when appropriate.
  • Prepare clear and professional proposals and supporting documentation for customers.
  • Maintain accurate estimating and project documentation.
  • Support the transition from estimating and design to project execution.
  • Stay current with low-voltage technologies, products, standards, and industry practices.
  • Contribute to improving estimating, design, and proposal processes within the company.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience in low-voltage estimating, system design, engineering, or a related commercial technology integration role.
  • Strong understanding of commercial low-voltage systems and installation practices.
  • Experience developing estimates, bills of materials, scopes of work, and proposals.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technology plans.
  • Experience designing or laying out low-voltage systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project managers, field technicians, vendors, and customers.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Comfortable visiting customer and project sites for surveys, walkthroughs, and meetings.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience estimating and designing structured cabling, audiovisual, networking, security, access control, surveillance, or other low-voltage systems.
  • Commercial low-voltage construction or technology integration experience.
  • Experience with Bluebeam and/or AutoCAD.
  • Experience using estimating or project management software; ConnectWise experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, installation methods, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Experience working with subcontractors, distributors, manufacturers, and technology vendors.
  • Understanding of labor units, material takeoffs, and project costing.
  • Experience performing field surveys and documenting existing conditions.
  • Ability to develop clear, professional design documentation and proposals.

The ideal candidate is exceptionally detail-oriented, technically minded, and thorough. They take pride in producing accurate estimates and thoughtful designs, understand how systems will be installed in the field, and are committed to delivering quality work with precision.
