Overview

AI Technical & Product Manager [LLM GenAI FAST API] Contract at Austin Texas

Places Technology Services team is looking an AI Technical & Product Manager that can partner with internal AI platform teams, explore open source alternatives and build AI agents for extended business unit. As the AI Technical & Product Manager, youโ€™ll drive the development and delivery of cutting-edge AI products, with a strong focus on hands-on engineering, rapid prototyping, and stakeholder alignment. The team balances quickly bringing value and making decisions that scale into a large agent system/workflow or quickly pivot to a better solution after business feedback. Collaborating with AI/ML teams, data scientists, and infrastructure organizations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead End-to-End Product Development: 8+ years of experience in full lifecycle of Software Engineering product development (AI preferred), from ideation and requirements gathering to prototyping, implementation, and production launch
  • Hands-On Engineering: 4+ years of development skills building backend REST API services using Python (FAST API preferred)
  • LLM-Focused Solution Design: 2+ years of experience building, architecting, or fine-tuning LLM-based solutions, with practical experience in GenAI
  • Rapid Prototyping: Build functional prototypes that demonstrate core ability to use frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph), and a working knowledge of ML techniques
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Facilitate alignment across business, design, and engineering teams, ensuring clarity of vision, requirements, and deliverables throughout the product lifecycle
  • Results-Oriented Execution: Embrace a pragmatic approach to problem-solvingโ€”prioritizing speed, usability, and impact over perfection, and iterating quickly to get products into production
  • Practical experience with asynchronous programming, type safety, threading models, state machines and data structures
  • Experience with managed cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure
  • Proficiency with containerized technologies (Docker) and familiar with orchestration platforms (Kubernetes)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
Qualifications
  • Hands-On Engineering: 4+ years of development experience building backend REST APIs using Python (FAST API preferred)
